This is just perfect, now who can I borrow $1,300 from? Edit: Never mind, I've got home and the listing has ended about 5 minutes prior. It wasn't meant to be.
Veers They come up every Now and again When at Casula Hobbies last week they had a Green heavily weathered Mansfield non streamlined one in the cabinet up the back of the shop for sale, sorry I didn’t look at the price so can’t help there. I have a 3 of the Dockyard Second Run locos and after seeing this one go for those kind of $$$ May look at a paint strip of the original paint and a respray and weathering to modern standards and offer up for sale.
I was given some information from a facebook group called NSWGR HO Brass & Die Cast Group, that Hobbyland at Hornsby had one for sale. Called them up and they had two, steamlined and non-streamlined. Mansfields. I've paid $1,100 for the streamlined and $1,200 for the non. I've bought both, the streamlined has some blemishing on it but looks good, and the non-stream looks mint. Hopefully I can pickup next weekend and post some photos. They also have another non-streamlined, painted, for sale at $1,695. I'm personally estatic about the purchase. Huge huge investment. But one I can now cherish for many years so come. And this really should put a stop on my locomotive purchases, as I'll have more than enough once converted to DCC. (should have 3 streamlined, 1 non. Excluding brass)
Good News Aaron Congratulations on finding two good examples and being able to get them secured for your self, you will really enjoy them the quality is spot on with the Mansfield locos Just remember to lube the motion etc as they are quite fine and made from material that is slightly softer than most rods and do get a bit of ware if running regularly and regular maintenance isn’t lavished. Something to look for when picking up the models. I remember one failure when we were exhibiting “Wingham” when a C38 dropped, a rod due to excess ware, in spectacular fashion, rolled off into the scenery and down into the river with people 5 deep infront of the layout just a little embarrassing. An old video of the layout linked I wasn’t operating when this old video was taken as the trains are going way to fast I ran then at scale speeds and alternated the trains in both directions.
