In true Blue Peter fashion (in the hope that it inspires you), here's one I did earlier.
I picked this up at the Summer the show, last time it was in Halifax from one of the second hand traders for £35. I had to scratch build the cab floor and coal chute because they and the back head were missing when I opened it and at the time I didn't know that I could probably have got replacements from Jim - the back head was one of a couple of Slaters' examples that I bought in a closing down sale.

If you want any of the build pictures in a thread some where I am happy to post them.

I don't think your reputation will be under threat with my efforts. A fantastic end result.

    Thanks,
What I love about these simple loco kits is, that you can do as much or as little as you like and it still looks good.

    Hi Ian,

I'll get it on the go when I get the lowmac completed. It's only a few fiddly bits I need to finish off. The 0 - 4 - 0 looks reasonably straight forward. ..... why do I get the feeling ill be eating my words. :avatar:

    Cheers

If ever there was a loco kit to cut your teeth on, this is it mate, start with the chassis, get it running and the rest will follow.

You know you can do it!!!!!!!!!!!

    Cheer's, Pete.

Here is my version of the loco. I still have to shape and fit the roof, which I will get round to sometime. It runs a treat.

You will be fine, just take it steady and ask questions when you need to.
And remember this is a hobby not a torture device so above all else enjoy it.

Toto - please explain Rob's comment above, that's not how you explained it to me when you handed the last work list over, the words I seem to remember were "stop winging and get on with it" :avatar:

Rob & Bittern - I noticed both of your loco's roofs come offis that a design feature ?

By the way both really nice loco's

If you want to put a crew in and glazing the roof will have to come off. There is not enough room otherwise to feed the crew through the doors.

Its definately my next build now that I have seen these go together. I have a hot date with the tax man ( online ) tomorrow but once I get that out the way ..... I'm on to it. Well ....... and tidied up my bench a bit. I will go between this build and finishing off my Brake van.
    thats the plan.
    cheers

One thing I'd like to see is how the band at the front of the boiler was formed. I think this is the hardest part of the build.

and on the menu for this build is .........
60 / 40 solder for the brass with Carr's green flux and ....... either 70 degree or 100 degree solder and Carr's red label for the white metal. Some of the detail, ie the clack pipes may be glued on after painting ...... undecided on that yet.
the duratool soldering irons, one for brass and one for white metal will be used and the small pointed tips I think.
    thats that settled.

He's on his own, with the Flu epedemic up here the waiting times at A&E are over 13 hours - he'd bleed out, just as well he has a couple of soldering irons to cauterize the wound - careful we don't give him an excuse to delay further :avatar:

Can you claim loco kits as a tax deductible expense - if so her Maj could be in trouble :avatar:

Just hit the send button and get out into the shed - after all whats the worse that could happen :whatever:
