Hope all had a good xmas and all the best for this new year.
The FEPV project moved along a little but got interrupted by a 3-rail tinplate 30 tank offered in 2-rail

The big decision with the 30 class was whether to make it BPRC or DCC. DCC won in the end, but its robust construction would make it ideal for bouncing up and down in the bus and train on my trips to Sydney to play on the AMRA Mortdale O gauge layout.
Busy, looking at the back of the lounge and under the bed for some more sheckels to pay for another one ! :>)
    cheers

    Hi Bob
    Will do

I posted a message over on RM as well, re what options when ordering to get a 2 Rail version with the finer flanges.
I have emailed ETS as the site says no facility to post to Australia waiting for a reply at the moment

I think some small additions with some scale detail items plus timber buffer beams overlay and it will look completely different to how the manufacturer supplies the model.
It certainly has the look of the 30 class though.

Chris, I have responded on the RM site so I'll keep all further discussion with you there for the moment to avoid confusion.
Any others will get a response here if they need some info from me.
    cheers
    Bob

The scenery is slowly being returned to the layout.

Jammed in between the two O gauge circuits is a lesser gauge of minor importance.
It is there for the use of those who find pleasure in opening a box.
I have been guilty of that sin in years past and recently provided a small train for a couple of mates who seem to be smitten with overgrown tea kettles.

    Lovely Garratt ! :thumbs::thumbs::thumbs:

Even in HO scale, it is probably as long as an O gauge locomotive !! ;)

    Cheers, Gary.

Hi Gary, it is longer than several of my O gauge locos ;>)
Been many years since that lot were out of the box.
To replicate it in O would cost me a fortune and the layout would not be big enough.
    cheers

Yesterday evening I decided to run one of my British trains. The Lima 4F I chose had a decided lump to it so I pulled it apart thinking by the frequency of the thump that there were a couple of damaged teeth or contamination. Could not see anything so I cleaned the worm and gear and reassembled it.
The model is fitted with a regular flat can motor ( Chinese 1833 equivalent), nylon worm and brass gear. No gearbox was used as it would have involved more mods to the loco. Originally the motor was held with a Silicone glue but this time I decided to try using hot melt. Much faster to set but not too fast.
Time will tell how it works, but I have wings on r/c planes held together with it so reasonably confident.
Noise has gone when I ran it this morning.

I do like LMS, probably be my first pick if I was not doing NSWGR.
My favourite British companies would be in the order, LMS,LNER,BR,SR.

    cheers

Nice little Lima 4F ! I have one of these stashed away that will, one day have a few mods done to it to improve the overall look of the locomotive.

So, you don't like the GWR.... ;);)

    Cheers, Gary.

    Thanks all.
Yes it does run well Gloria
:>) I have enjoyed Pendon and Didcot but the styling of the GWR just doesn't appeal Gary.

I was able to do a bit more of the ground cover when the day warmed up.
    cheers

    Hi Bob,
Thank you for your reply. I am an ex GWR Employee, And enjoy looking at overseas models as they are a lot different from ours in many way,.especially steamers always nice to see other people's builds and the effort that has gone into it to make a presentable model. It's winter here now after last week the weather has changed everything is on hold. Hopefully next month we are off to Peterborough National Garden Railway Show as there are a couple of items needed to enhance our railway.
Good luck with your railway keep up the good work:tophat:
    Regards,
    Gloria.

Started work on a new much smaller station precinct for the re-build.
The suburban island building will be replaced with a permanent smaller building. It will however do for now!

That HO track will have to go very soon. Whilst it is not noticeable from normal viewing distance it sticks out in photos!

    cheers
