I thought I'd share some of my weathered models and other little weathering projects that have been happening around the layout.

These are a few of the items I use to weather my models. If anyone would like to know how I go about using these products for weathering, just ask me ! :D

You can see Testors Clear Lacquer, Isopropyl Alcohol, Black wash, Humbrol paints, a selection of Carrs powders, and a few brushes, The red handle brush in the foreground is my preferred choice !

So, a few models, these first few I had done today.

    ^ 16T Mineral Wagons

^ A 2+2 Planked vent van and a Fruit van. Below, two more Fruit vans.

The next lot of wagons were done some time ago and I will add taht some of you here have seen these before, but...

    ^ The Hornby 'Railroad' tankers.

    ^ LMS Egg Van

    ^ GWR Fruit D van.

    ^ Another Fruit van.

^ SR 5 plank open wagon.

A few locos I done some time ago...

    ^ A Bachmann Class 08.

^ Bachmann Jinty. This loco started its life as a S&DJR blue liveried loco.

^ Hormby Terrier, started life as 'Portishead' in GWR livery.

^ Rusting pipes and mesh and below, some rusting old engineering waste
    [IMG]

Well, that's a few for now, no doubt there'll be more. ;)

    Cheers, Gary.

Nice work Gary, you,ve given me food for thought, I have to weather quite a few wagons and locos for wheeldon mill as well as the whole layout! so any tips are more than welcome, especially how to,s that don,t involve an air brush .

    Pete.

ps I watched the fireworks on the harbour bridge on tv wow! very impressive, did you go?

    Thankyou Ian, Pete and Toto.

I will work on doing a tutorial tomorrow for you. The only time an airbrush was used was for respraying the Jinty and the Terrier from their previous liveries.

As for the fireworks in Sydney, no, I didn't go. Although I do want to take my boys in to the city for the show. You can imagine that the whole Sydney foreshore is packed (1.5 million people), with some people camping out at there favourite spot for 48 hours ! We have two fireworks displays one at 9.00pm for the kids (so the families can get home before the main crowds), then the BIG ONE at midnight for the New Year. Maybe I'll go next year as these shows just get better and better.

Did you know : It takes 15 months for the Pyro-technicians to put the show together, which includes designing and making the fireworks. ;)

    Cheers, Gary.

Superb work on all of those. The mineral wagons particularly caught my eye, and it seems I'm not alone in that.

Inspired by your great work Gary I have now built an Airfix mineral wagon and will have a go at weathering it. I don't expect to get anywhere near the standard of yours so I will be invoking the lesser know '6ft rule' and so as not to hijack this thread will post any images on my workbench.

    Really nice work Gary
Having seen linden ford and some of your stock I knew it looked good but with all the little people around at exhibitions it was hard to have a really good look the photos really do show it off the best.
    Nice work.

Will have a good look next time you exhibit a layout.

Amazing Gary, they look so realistic

Have you posted any 'how to video's', as I would love to get my wagons looking like yours.

Also wondering about track weathering, I've just sent off for suitable 'Railmatch' paints to do the job, but these are Acrylic, I found out the other day that you should use enamel paints for track, does this really matter ? I will be using an Airbrush.

    Regards
    Keefe
