Like Paul I have had to resort to an order with Fox. Circumstances have dictated that I won't be able to go up north this weekend and my transfers are up there. Plus I just realised that I only have one more weekend before the end of the month when I thought I had two:(

The transfers arrived today - now that is good service :tophat: to Fox Transfers. Now to read the instructions (Toto - that's the writing on the packaging they come wrapped in, that you normally hand to me :avatar:).

Gloss cote applied to the area where the transfers are to be applied - should have done it last night :whatever:

Main part remaining is the access ladder ..... mmmmmmm....... :scratchchin:

Then it came to me - actually I was tidying the desk, but no one will believe that :whatever:

I will use 0.1" header strip for the rungs

with a steel rule I pushed the plastic separator down to the bottom

The pulled out every other pin

I will use solid telephone wire for the sides - unfortunately its out in the shed, so will have to wait until the morning - night off it seems

Note self, find the safe place the fine soldering iron is hiding :whatever:

Fine work with 40W iron for this was a bit like using an Oxy-Acetelene torch to solder white metal

    So far so good .......

    errrr ..........

    Three attempts later

Needs the paint job finishing before gluing in place (and setting perpendicular)

    A little further progress

Lettering - it's official I hate lettering :whatever:, fiddly ******

1st a base of Gloss Cote was applied, next up the transfers applied, using Decal fix to dampen the model surface, then a bit more applied once the all the transfers were in place - this helps the tranfers blend into the model surface. Once dry another coat of Gloss Cote (applied by brush), and again once dry the model was given a coat of Matt Cote (via airbrush). Now waiting for this to dry so I can apply the weathing powders, as these only went on patrol once or twice week, I would imagine they were well looked after, and fairly "New" from the works, so the weathering will be light.

Oh polish my brass ...... :avatar:

Another couple of coats of Matte Cote, to kill off the gloss cote seal over the lettering.

Then some powders Brown Earth on the underframe, Rust on the brake shoes and Smoke on the underframe and sides to tone down the colours a bit.

In the last black and white picture posted above, the 3 link coupling looks like a child's toy bear wearing a hat hanging off the wagon...

Compare Paul's original pic above with what I have drawn on....

With all seriousness though, you have done a great job of this kit bash. Well done Paul.:thumbs::thumbs:

    Cheers, Gary.
