Just received this brass/white metal kit today from PDK, just a week from ordering to delivery so happy with that. It all came very well packed inside a rather nice (and undoubtedly very useful) plastic box with a full 8 A4 pages of well illustrated instructions and pics, which makes a real change from many of the kits I've had so far. I will need to source motor/gearbox, although I have a couple in stock which may well fit the bill, so I'll check later, and of course the wheelsets for loco and tender which I'm hoping Alan Gibson may have as they're invariably much quicker at delivering than Markits, with quality on a par. Here's what's in the box.
Here's the rest of the parts, cast brass and white metal bits look rather nice, Alan Gibson Buffers and coupling rods supplied so I'm hoping this will be a reasonably easy build which I intend to start shortly. Time to warm up the Iroda blowtorch methinks! Keith.
Certainly looks the part. Nice clean etches and from what I can see, the white metal parts look quite clean and crisp as well. Nice one keith.
If it's anything like the D16 that I built as my first Loco kit, back when I modelled in 4mm, it will be pretty good. This is one of only a couple of photos that I have of it. I was really pleased with it at the time. Though I plead complete ignorance as the excuse for choosing a 4-4-0 as my first loco build... Edited to add that I lined it with my Easyliner pen that a few have bought recently.
