Hi I am attempting to build my first scratch build wooden platform. The wood frame of the platform was built using 3mm x 3mm balsa wood. The wood boards I utilised wooden coffee stirrers. All coming together nicely:) once the glue has had time to set over night I will square off the edges of the platform. Once this is complete I will be making the ramp for the platform. Here is a picture of my progress.

Thanks Ron for your nice comments. This is my first attempt and I am really enjoying my platform scratchbuild. I will be using coffee to stain the wood and boards and then weathering to finish the platform.

Nice project Kevin. I will be interested to see how the coffee staining turns out.

:hismiley:Pete thanks for your reply. I will need to make the coffee quite strong as I don’t want the colouring of the wood to light.

The good thing is that the consistency of coffee is thin enough so no danger of clogging up any of the detail when applied. Should be good. :tophat:

:hismiley:Little more progress made on my platform. The edges on the top boards have been filed to tidy them up. Coffee has been added for staining the wood, I’m really pleased with the result. Next will be modelling steps or a ramp not certain which yet. I have added a couple of photos of the progress.:)

Great build Kevin and good use of natural resources :scratchchin: now I wonder what I could use cocktail sticks and vino tinto for? ...
