I've put this topic here in reviews because it will be interesting to get some product feedback from members. Here are two etch smokebox numberplates, both ordered from different suppliers for my current build, both are 7mm scale and as you can see they follow on consecutively, however each are vastly different. The one in the bag came with a complete set of other plates and is by Severn Mill, the other one attached to the red sticker is by Fox and isn't even an etch but merely a chemically stained piece of nickel silver. Needless to say I know the one I'm going with. So its compare the market dot com as they say.:avatar:

I think they are both fine. The stained one looks better to me but maybe just because it looks finished. It would be interesting to see the other one painted up for comparison.

Nice stiff though, I'm sure they'll look great once in place.

    Cheers

I've always used Fox Transfers for my decals and plates, but I model in 4mm so can't speak for how their 7mm stuff compares with others. One 'Plus' is that they have always been a 'By return post' service which is great if, like me, you get frustrated by the protracted delivery times of some of the kit/component suppliers.

In defence of Fox I have got their shedplates and they look very good I must say, also they always arrive within a couple or three days of purchase, I guess in 4mm tiny detail differences are unnoticeable so there is a much greater margin to play with. They are both good plates and neither cost that much but what swung it for me was the raised numerals of the Severn Mill one.
