Hi Ian the Classic mainline J72 I have 2 main line and 2 Bachmann ones great little engines. The Mainline J72 was one of my first trains purchased with my own money when it was released new it took me weeks and weeks of pocket money then a little LNER green one was mine, then every two weeks I saved enough to get a single mainline wagon they were$4.95 - $5.95 back then. And I still have every one I ever got We lived what was considered back then a fair way from the main local business center so every second week a family trip was done to the big shopping centre for me the toy/hobby shop was the only shop in the centre a beeline was made and I would get another wagon. Thanks for the memory jog were good times Enjoy your new purchases will look forward to the photos when they arrive.
Hi Chris thanks for that evocative memory, I never had a train set as a kid, too busy helping on the farm but my mate had a Tri-ang set and later I was into Dinky army trucks (probably why I joined up). Getting the odd newbie engine encourages me to get on with my layout. Cheers Ian
2nd section of 1st base board (see track plan) glued in position ready for track laying and bedding in of engine shed watch this glass ... ? ... space! Attached files
I like to keep up the suspense ... or as the other 5/8ths calls it 'shopping and doing the chores' still hopefully I can get the engine shed planted this morning (she's nipping out to the international club for coffee and gossip) before footie n beer this afternoon. Ian
I've weathered the engine shed amd hopefully today's the day! ... sorry what dear? ... no I was just saying it'll spon be May... shhh Ian Attached files
I see you've got it sorted then... A recliner and a little table for your drink! Nice...as long as the earthquake doesn't spill it! Nice to see progress on your layout. Cheers Marty
Track down (final sections wont go down until I complete the next board) wire in tube controls in and engine shed planted been a good day scenics next... after mi tinto sometime. Attached files
Because you may be wondering why the track is a bit near the engine shed it's because of the restricted width 25cm and the points I have available Attached files
That earthquake must have been bad, all the scenery has been coverd with brown on the second backscene Comming along very nicely Paul
