Excellant piece of track design software, it does have a steep learning curve, but tutorials are available on the website, and the results are worth the effort.

Free to use and can be downloaded from

I think it needs pointing out that Templot is designed for people that plan on building there own track and is not what you should use if you are planning on using ready made turnouts such as Peco and Hornby etc.

It allows you to create templates for turnouts and complete trackplans based on prototype geometry.

I am no expert with Templot but have successfully designed and built my own turnouts using it.

    Well put Andy

It can be used to create individual point / track templates or the whole layout - I have done both.
Once your design is complete you print out the track plan full size as a series of sheets to stick together to form the full size track layout or just a point template.
The software also allows you to calibrate your printer to ensure it prints out to the corrrect size.
The plans are then used to build your track on top of.

A quick screenshot from Templot, of a B6 point in O gauge, somehow this may soon be useful :avatar:
