Sure was Gary. The weather had held out pretty well. It makes a difference when you can get set up outside. We are meant to have a heat wave over here this week. Hope it lasts through the weekend. Cheers Toto
So are you expecting the temperature to reach double digits ?? The good weather couldn't have come at a better time for you both. Hopefully it will last, or only ran during the weekdays, returning sunny and clear for the weekend... Cheers, Gary.
I'm looking to get all four baseboards linked outside this weekend. Some electrics to do through the week and hopefully testing this weekend. I want to see an end to the track and points wiring and get it to a place where it's up and running. Then I can forget it and turn my focus onto the scenics. I'm looking to hire a hall for when both traversers are done and undertake a full snagging session on the full running layout to ensure that it is running reliably for novembers exhibition. Meanwhile a mix of mock up buildings and maybe the odd completed one as well. Fingers crossed. Toto
Just as I thought I'd get a rest, the GT2 20T 8mm bore gears arrived, so that means most of the bits to start the drive chain are here Oh well back to the drawing board Paul
Yes ....... And stay there infadel. There's work to be done. I've got a delivery next door at the neighbours. Cheers for now Maj.
Beginning to think - your lucky he can only badger you with skype and emails, I get visits Back to work I suppose I've dug out the drive belts I bought for Viccy Rd, 900-2GT-6 which translates to 900 teeth 6mm wide GT2 belt in a loop. Which works out as approx 450 mm loop. Which is a bit too short, I want to get the lead screws close to the outer edges to help prevent table twisting. As the traverser table is 4ft long, I can either buy bigger belts, or get a twin pulley for the motor and use two belts - as shown below The Grey lines are the lead screws, the purple being the GT2 belts, with the motor in the middle. https://www.amazon.co.uk/sourcingma...d=1500416294&sr=8-18&keywords=20T+GT2+pulleys 2 now on order Next job, design and build the bearing mounts, with adjustment to allow me to tension the belts. Paul
Getting exciting now Paul. The movement of the table is very slick and smooth so it'll be interesting to see it motorised. I think the order books will fill up rapidly. Cheers Toto
Paul, if Toto ever changes his mind on scale/gauge, I'm sure I could fit a few lengths of OO track on that traverser... Cheers, Gary.
Paul....you could set up business building these things and 3D printing as well. http://www.clickGormo
Now now, two is enough at the moment. First attempt at the bearing holders Hopefully there is enough strength and adjustment to be able to apply and release the belt tension so I can replace the belt easily if required. Test print started - we'll see. Paul
