This is my photographic collection of various buildings that I came across in Tasmania. The designs hark back to the early 1800's with a hefty amount of UK heritage within the architecture. A lot of the images have corrugated iron roofs, which had probably replaced the original shingle roof. Please disregard the corrugated iron roofs, as on a model, this would be either shingles or tiles. I have grouped the images into seven individual catergories to make finding images easier. 1. Hotels, Former Hotels/Guest Houses and Shops. 2. Warehouses, Former Warehouses. 3. Mills and Barns. 4. Council Buildings/Local Authorities and Banks. 5. Churches. 6. Schools. 7. Houses/Homes. That's it for now. If I do find more pics in my collection, I'll come back and edit the new images in. Hopefully this will inspire or encourage members to have a go at scratchbuilding and kit bashing. Cheers, Gary.
Nice selection of pics to whet the appetite. On one or two of them I can almost see the Cornish influence. Well done. Am eagerly awaiting your interpretation of some of them.
Despite being from the a different part of the world from me I can see details that can be used in architecture from anywhere in the world, us Brit,s left our mark everywhere. Pete.
Got to agree with you Pete. The architecture is very common and the buildings, if they were not burnt down or toppled over for a new developement, they stood the test of time. Will our 'modern' buildings be around in 125-150 years time ?? I very much doubt it. Cheers, Gary.
I don't think they will either. Mind you with some of the carbuncles on the landscape who wants them too. And they seem to spring up so quickly these days.
