Next challenge, installing the low relief buildings along the back wall .......... eh Toto. I need to get started on buildings ..... I hate building buildings, who was the bright spark that thoght of building an inner city layout, oh that would be me Attached files
I'll get back into Scalescenes mode when I get back and get building number 1 completed. Then get started on another. You have the master piece to think about ...... GPO and coverall roof. Crack on. Toto
Yeah buildings, Ive started on the scalescenes freebies to get some practice in but put it on hold for a few days as other things are encroaching on free time atmo. once I,ve done them I'll look at the shop backs to see whats what Cheers Matt
See the Christmas cheeryness or is that weariness is hitting already.Got to get Kirsty's bedroom to - as the kids put it Grandma ready for the weekend, so my modelling time is severely constrained until the new year And I have to tidy the man cave / railway room, tried to explain I did earlier this year, but rhe same look the kids used to get, and a rye smile off Kirsty, I know better than to argue that look. Paul
It`s that time of year Paul, I have to tidy my man cave and the railway will go on hold for a couple of weeks. I have family coming to stay for two weeks over Christmas. Preparations are happening and not much more will happen to the railway till new year I`m afraid. I think we are probably all in the same boat. http://www.click Gormo
Yes, I may get a couple of odds and ends done in between the festivities but probably nothing major. I'll be hooked on here whenever I get the chance as someone is bound to get some new shinnies to tell us about. Cheers Toto
That's one of the good things about this little project, I've never even looked at Hattons.i actually still have cash left in my pocket. Cheers Toto
Hopefully we will be doing some meeting and greeting on here, welcoming in new members etc Cheers Matt ( See how I didnt once mention about Toto and Hattons ? )
You`re showing a lot of restraint Matt.....not mentioning TOTO AND HATTONS......well done old son!!! http://www.click Gormo PS....I have heard from a reliable source that when Hattons run low on stock they are now trying to buy back certain lines of stock from Toto.....there appears to be a world shortage of some railway models.????
I'd heard Hattons were bringing in consultants to find out why exports to Scotland had plummited, and are having second thoughts about opening a Edinberg branch - after all Toto already has the warehouse covered. Paul ooooo, I feel I'm going to suffer for that . Attached files
My operchancity will come ........ He who laughs last ......... Laughs longest. And anyway, I did not buy Hattons out of stock ....... I hate class 35's. Chancers
OK, just to prove Victoria Road has more than just a traverser, I recently started work on the rear retaining walls. This will run the whole length of the track, and at the station throat will gain in height to form a wind break for the platforms. I have used two layers of 2mm grey board, and applied Scalescene red brick paper to the board. On the rail side I only used a 30 mm high strip as only 10 mm would be seen. The whole length was then sealed with Winsor & Newton Galleria Matt acrylic varnish. Then tried in place To cover the joins buttresses were made. Then varnished and glued in place, carefully aligning the brick courses. That got me to the base board joint Now the section that will raise in height, I decided to do this with two steps and a 45 degree angle. These were made the same way as the rear section As this would be seen in the station area, I also included a row of header bricks at the top. These are also on the Scalescene brick paper. Then the buttresses were cut to length Capping stones for each buttress were made from plain grey board The remaining cap stones were made from narrower strips of grey board with the lines drawn in heavily with a blunt HB pencil. and stuck in place Temporarily held in place, as I will need access under the platforms to install lights. Paul
I'm liking the reductions in height of the back wall Paul. Takes the wall down to the next scene level nicely. Toto

Nice work Paul, these things all make for a realistic look to any model especially an exhibition layout where presentation is key . Cheers, Pete.
Cheers Pete The worst part abought the retaining wall, is it will never be seen, and I have fitted buttresses etc - I suppose I know they're there Paul
