Once again welcome to the forum Paul
Hi all and thanks for your warm welcome. A little bit about me I'm from Hull Eastyorkshire retired and about 18 months ago I resurrected my old locos and track from the loft all dating back to the 1970's. Looking forward to being a part of the community Mike
Hi Mike, welcome to the forum, like Toto I look forward to hearing of your plans for the new empire . Any questions just ask, we all love to be able to offer our opinions, and sometimes they me even be correct . Paul
Thank you again for the welcoming, first off my plans are to enjoy my retirement and find enough time for all my hobbies (painting, photography, caravanning and my railway). The time factor is governed by the fact I care for my wife so have to work round doing the house work, shopping the many and other jobs being a carer involves. My railway is under way in the loft (3.6m x 2.8m) started about 18 months ago and still working on the track work to get it running smoothly made a few mistakes along the way, at the moment I am in the process of changing some insulfrog points to electrofrog. The era is based around the end of steam and the beginning of diesels gives me plenty of scope. This is my layout so if I enjoy watching a steam train running on one track and a high speed on another. The control system I have opted for after watching many YouTube videos mainly because I am hopeless at remembering numbers so having a visual of the loco is easer is the Roco z21 which is brilliant (can't compare with others as have not used them) I am over 70 but grasped the working of it in no time. Thanks again Mike
Welcome Mike, great to have you with us. One thing we all agree on is. Rule 1, its my layout and I will run what pleases me! Like you I am my wifes carer, so I am also head cook and bottle washer so modelling is as and when I can. Keep the updates coming and when you have sussed the system give us some photos of your project. Cheer's, Pete.
Thanks Pete, great to be here. Will defiantly post some pictures as soon as I get organised, have been browsing the site for a long time now and picked up some excellent tips from the forums also from watching a lot of Gormo's videos on YouTube. All my locos and rolling stock are probably 30 to 50 years old, and I get a lot of satisfaction in buying none working locos from auction sites and resurrecting them to full working order. Mike
G'day Mikejh, A belated 'welcome aboard' from Sydney. Plenty of good modellers here with a wealth of modelling experience and all with different skill sets. If there is anything you need to know, ask away. Great intro, just keep plugging away and in time, you'll have a great layout. Just need to remember that a layout is never really finished ! Enjoy the camaraderie and banter that is P1MRC ! Cheers, Gary.
Hi Mikejh from sunny hot Spain thanks for the intro I reckon you'll enjoy it here after all we are only a click away Ian vt
Thank you Gary & Rob For the warm welcome, I have been a browser of the forum for a long time and picked up a lot of very useful information along the way. I am currently at the snagging stage of the track work trying to get the locos to run as smooth as possible because I think it's one of the biggest frustrations and leads to a lot of people giving up is when the trains keep derailing or stopping. Will be posting some pictures of my attempt of a layout in the near future when time and circumstances permit (wife not been too well) PS Thanks Ian vt Mike
Thanks Kim from a cold and windy Hull Temperature down to 6° or 7° with the wind it feels more like 4° Mike
