Those members of the forum who know why I chose Jakesdad as my user name also know that I lost my big lad last year.

He was one month shy of his 15th birthday, pretty long lived for a Lab'.
Well at the time I swore I'd not have another dog as it was heartbreaking to have him put to sleep.
Then, a few days back, I was looking through our local RSPCA web site to see what was available for adoption, just curious you understand ;).
Well I just couldn't scroll past this handsome feller.

His name is Bear, and he's 4 years old, daft as a brush and as strong as a grizzly! So, last week we had a run out and came back potential owners of a new Lab/Boxer cross, we're just waiting for the home visit, next Thursday, and he's ours. Can't wait!!

Cheer's, Pete.

Fantastic. Great to see a dog get another chance. He is a big handsome boy as well. I think our Lulu might have the hots for him.

Great news Pete.

Fantastic Pete. He is a good looking boy. I know Bear will feel like a king when he is in his new home and both of you will be rewarded. Happy days.

Cheers, Gary.

Everyone should have a Golden Retriever or a Labrador. They are just wonderful companions.

Karen and I went to visit him yesterday, its been a few days since our last visit due to our holiday. So I didn't expect him to be too fussed about us, was I surprised, he was all over us like a rash!, we bought him a new toy from Blackpool, something to pull and drag me around with, he nearly pulled my arm from its socket, and destroyed the toy in 5 minutes flat!!   :mutley2:.

Cheer's, Pete.

With a young dog like that Pete, you're gonna be getting some walking mileage in soon! Always nice to see someone taking on a "Rescue dog" and giving them another chance at life. I've not had the heart to have another dog after I lost my German Shepherd after she ate slug pellets, and that was back in the 70's. Vet couldn't save her as it was too late (had to get the Vet out of the pub as it was 'out-of-hours'). She was one of my late Uncle's dogs, he was a breeder of pedigree Cruft's champions and one of his dogs was sold to America in the 60's for over 1000. Nowadays, we stick to cats and have a couple of gingers, one with 3 legs, the other with a full complement of 4, both rescue cats.:mutley2:

Wow Ian, he's a whopper  but gorgeous with it!!!.

Keith, I can understand your reluctance to take another dog on, it would have been soul destroying to see a member of the family, and that is exactly what they are, in such a situation and knowing you can do nothing for them.

Well we have had our inspection by a lovely lady called Jane, and she was happy with what she saw, so at 2pm we pick Bear up .

Cheer's, Pete.
