I enjoyed that. It was interesting to see at the end at about 6:15 minutes, the staff rod for uncoupling in action using the lever principle.

3 link couplers appears an awful lot easier on the 12in : 1 foot than in 7mm or 4mm to the foot

You need to try Scale 3 links in 4mm/ft
We did a 3 day exhibition with all stock fitted with scale links and the layout wasn’t a roundy losts of shunting to a time table
The main line Goods trains arrived and had to be shunted and local trains made up, wagons placed in the correct sidings for there loading etc by the end of 3 days your eye balls would be hanging out.

We found that the trick is to make a shunting hook that suits each person one hook doesn’t suit all
I prefer one made from a section of PC sleeper with a shunter hook soldered to it I find the flat surface easier to control than a round pole with a hook on the end.

I also use a magnetic pole with the lastof the 3 links a steal one works for me.

One pole that is great for 7 mm is a modified electrical pick up probe the ones with the spring loaded hook at the end you can grab the hook and it’s held tight until you release.

Only issue with the spring loaded hook is, if you forget to release you bring the wagon with you :giggle: not a good look at an exhibition.
