Is any of our members going to the Epping Model Railway Exhibition held at Rosehill Racecourse in June ? If yes, why not enter one of their competitions...

Cheers, Gary.

Sounds a good idea, was thinking of building one of those sometime soon. There's no way I'll be competitive with you Gary for the spoils though. I like the Camco/Silvermaz models, well thought out with decent instructions.
Very good of Al to make the competition using one of his competitor's models, rather than boosting his own sales. I fear these sorts of kits are a dying market as people want either the highly detailed RTR models or they get the esoteric low volume kits, that often have all the extra details (and price) that these older ones lack, but can be done by the more experienced modeller. A modeller just starting out is not going to take on one of the tougher models with too much success I would expect. I started my return to modelling with an AR Kits MLE wagon and that was a fantastic re-introduction to kit assembly after many years.
They really make it only for exhibitors to enter though, there's no way I really want to drive through Sydney friday night traffic to Rose Hill (on a long-weekend) just to drop off a model. Saturday morning would be difficult too.
But, might still give it a go anyway, you never know:thumbs:
Cheers
Tony

It's a good idea, but I would have thought it would attract more entrants if they accepted entries on say, Saturday and Sunday, and held the judging on Monday.

I won't be entering though - I can't see a Camco HGM open wagon fitting in with my collection of vintage Hornby Dublo.
