Wow, I can't believe that the last time I did anything on Industry Lane was in late January..! :(

I need to do something as the June date is nearing faster than ever. So, a fence was produced. No, not a manufactured kit, but a scratch built post and wire fence. I like the fence I made for Linden Ford, so this was copied, but using styrene for posts instead of wood (North Eastern Lumber) and a thinner gauge copper wire.

Using 1.5mm x 2mm Evergreen Styrene strip for posts, this was cut to length, drilled, shaped, painted and strung with wire prior to placement on the layout. Below is the fence in place before the wire had been painted and both the posts and wire being weathered.

Next is the fence completed, including the weathering of posts and wire, and also the addition of 'greenery' under the fence line. Why so green under the fence line ?? Well, that is because this is where the local birds do their finest 'spreading of seed', covered in a manure coating...

A little more weed was added around the bridge area, as this is where any run-off would flow, keeping the ground reasonably moist for rampant weed growth. This pic was taken before I had vacuumed up the excess static grass along the road.

Not only did below the fence line cop some weed, the wire gained some vines...

More to come. I'll post up a tutorial on the making this fence shortly. It's good to get back into it again, as my creative juices where starting to dry up ! :twitch:

Cheers, Gary.

I've seen lots of fences like that Gary, suitably unkept

Just shows you've got good eyes, drilling holes for wire in 1.5mm x 2mm Styrene strip.

Thanks for the positive comments. There was a little 'creative juice' in the bottom of my tank afterall..! Hopefully have some more greenery done tomorrow as I have a few trees that need planting. ;)

Trust me Ed, my eyes ain't that good. After drilling 96 holes, I doubt my eyes are getting any better... :squint: squint :squint: squint...!

Cheers, Gary.

Chris, I have plenty of styrene and wire...

Then again, modelling in 7mm, you may be best using Bass wood or balsa for the posts as the grain in the timber would be much more pronounced than would I could achieve with styrene scrubbed with coarse sand paper !

Cheers, Gary.

I have just ordered a bunch of scenery items that should bring Industry Lane to life. So at the moment, the trees may not be planted...

Cheers, Gary.

*Edit*..., Couldn't help myself, the trees went in and I'll post up a pic once the PVA dries. ;)

As I mentioned earlier, I couldn't help myself and so I planted some trees...

^ Two poplars were planted as well as the usual leaf litter on the ground.

^Looking down the line under the poplars.

^ Class 08 and fuel train between the poplars.

Cheers, Gary.
