Hi Scotty,

Nice to hear from you kind Sir. I think the relay is a must. It did run but not as well as it should have. I'll keep the canal in mind when I look at the other changes and see what comes out the other end. The good thing that would come out of removing the canal would be the removal of the single line bottleneck that exists.

Whatever happens ...... Keep yourself available as an operator again for this year. :avatar:

Watch this space. Cheers

Toto

Toto, mate, I saw this and thought of you. Very inspirational, in respect of Luib Bridge, perhaps......

My pleasure, guys.
Toto, i just thought the layout of the track-work was reminiscent enough of Luib Bridge, that it may give you some inspiration.

Absolutely. You almost think that it is ( pretty much ) one and the same as far as the overall layout goes.
I am going to lift the track and take the opportunity to simplify things a bit. I'l post up the plan as I go. I'D like something a little better operationally and a plan that will allow me to quickly progress after the track is down and tested. I will be using heavier gauge wiring so that will help to elevate the past issues.
I think once Instart, I can quickly r eachngheoint of where I was before and eventually get some ground cover and ballasting Tec done to lift the emptiness from the layout.
I will start by confirming my track plan first. Watch this space.
Feel free to chip in on the operational element after all ....... You are chief operator. :avatar:

I'm looking forward to it, so the sooner you get it up on here the better. That said, take your time and we can make sure we get something that you will enjoy building and operating. http://www.click

I will be playing around with Anyrail tonight so it could be up soon. I am looking at a plan I found in a BRM track lan book which is reasonably simple and maybe just a little altering needed to give a bit more operating potential. All comments will be gladly accepted and especially opinions on the positioning of expansion joints Tec as that was one of the issue encountered with the current plan with at least one set of points physically lifting due to expansion caused by the changing venue temperature.
The upgrade in wiring will solve the cobalt ( burning out ) issues.
Cheers Scotty.

Here is the track plan from the BRM guide .........

The fiddle yard which I would have 4 or 5 roads in ........

and idea of a track plan that could be built upon..........

The whole thing .....
As I said, I would play around on Anyrail to see how this plan works over 3 or 4 scenic boards and if it give any room to add a little more operational potential. The good office could be a repair depot or whatever so the purpose could change to suit the layout.
I would like to try and retain some sort of maintenance works, carriage, wagon or loco depending on how much space I end up having. I want to try and avoid craming things in like I have done with virtually every plan I have previously come up with. Another question is do I lay flat to the basebaords or can I try and work in a little relief keeping it in mind that I need a flat end to meet up with fiddle yards at both ends.
I'll have a play around.
cheers

Something like this maybe ........

Carriage works / fabrication plant for the full length of the back wall. both entrances / exit lines going inside the building and feeding on to a traverser at either end for swapping short rakes around. Also for taking delivery of raw materials.
A small halt fed by an autocoach or even a DMU or something. Mixed traffic running through between traversers.
yeah ..... no ....... dont know :avatar:

Thats a good starting point, Toto. The halt could be for workers to the carriage works.......
