On it's way from Albion Alloys.

Placed the order a couple of days ago. Just being dispatched now with a 3 / 4 day delivery notification. I suppose in current circumstances it's acceptable. At least it is being processed.

I'm intending to use this 10 thou sheet to scratch build some partitioning for a two compartment all brake third coach conversion. I'm interested to see how difficult it will be to cut and shape this thickness of brass.

As I intend using the "wire in tube" method for points operation on my forthcoming 0 gauge layout, albeit operated by Hattons point motors as opposed to manual operation, I was wondering what others have used for both tube (plastic or maybe brass?) and wire (piano wire or something else?).
The maximum length of any 'wire in tube' is likely to only be around 550mm, most less than that, so no long lengths involved causing problems due to friction etc, as the layout width is only 600mm, idea...

As many may know, I will be casting my own white metal parts as part of my Highlander Models production process. I've just had a brand new mould delivered for class 26 and 27 bogie furniture and the development casts that came with them were ok.

Two of the parts that are available from the mould are composite suspension parts which ..... whilst they cast fine, due to their rather fragile dimensions, are a little susceptible to breaking. They wont necessarily break as a matter of course but...

At the Lincoln MRC show in Newark this past weekend, I bought a bottle of Carr's Steel/White Metal blackener, and a bottle of the Brass blackener, and to be honest, I wish I hadn't bothered as results were disappointing to say the least. Despite being applied to cleaned components, and in one case, immersing a bogie into the solution, the nearest I got was a slight brown tinge akin to a thinned wash of murky brown paint. At £9 a bottle and mediocre results, (and that's being kind!), I'll...

odd question... can you solder to this stuff?

I’ve seen it used in dolls houses for the lighting, but they tend to drill through and put metal ferrules/eyelets in for a plug to go in to...

Thinking along the lines of this.... here although it says it’s for guitars?

I’ve seen some use this stuff as a power bus for DCC layouts (maybe even DC) but I just want to know if I can solder...
