Recieved a email from Scalescenes yesterday. Advertising Free down load of a Small Goods Store. So I jumped on the their site and downloaded the file. It's a very nice kit. It gives you the choice of two different versions. It was a fairly straight forward build. I made one mistake by putting two planks on the front, when one should have gone on the back, but I like the look of the two planks, so I left it. Took me about 4 hours to build. Very happy with the result.

Just finished constructing, Scalescenes Island Platform. Really good model, with some very tricky bits. I had a go at weathering, but I'm not too happy with the results. Just need some finishing touches, posters station name, and so on. I don't know if a station like this exist in Victoria Australia, but it does now.
Obviously I have to make a platform at some point.
What is not made clear is that you actually get a single and double road shed in the kit so what was going to be a 2 road shed is now going to be a slightly different shaped shed - long two road and a shorter single road along side.

Lost the notes I made while doing this build, so I'll just have to wing it. The only modification I made, was to put posts in holding up the platform canopy.

The instructions for this model were excellent. Plus using the knowledge I gained from the Signal box build, things went fairly smoothly. The most difficult thing to do was cutting the 2mm board. I used a box cutting knife and it took a long time to cut accurately. I was very surprised how well the down pipes came out. I was very...
Being new to railway modelling this was a project I had never attempted before, but I took my time (about 4 months of evenings and wet days) to build the boat.
There are 30 pages of individual pieces to print and 227 instructions on building the model.
Before printing you can enter your own ship name and home port.
Many pieces needed glueing to medium or thick card and I used cereal boxes for...

Let me first say this is the first time I have made a As Scale Scene model. I just used the cheapest printer cost me $47 au. On plain A4 paper, and gluing to an old cereal packet. As a printer by trade I will get them printed out professionally next time. You will need high degree of cutting acuracy, in order to get the parts to fit properly. I personally found the windows, and staircase, very challenging, but enjoyed the build. As
You can see from the photos, mine is far from perfect,...

Having completed the kit for the competition I feel it’s only fair to new do a review...

Where do I begin?
Well, how about actually at the end. For £9.99 or what ever your equivalent currency is, it is great value. Yes, unlike a super quick model or Metcalfe where they are pre printed, it may cost you a bit extra for card, paper and printing ink, but for what you get, it’s a smashing little model. The design of the kit I would say is 9.5 out of 10. I’ll explain the reason why below.
The...

Crisp and clean, if these had existed years ago in such a number of shapes and sizes I would never have troubled with Self Adhesive window frame cut-outs. The Sheet No. 4 [engine shed] of eight 5 x 7 panes and three smaller will save several hours work in S.A. alone at a considerable saving over brass frets.

I recommend them to the House.
