Well we`ve come to the end of the year we would rather forget and I`ve also come to the end of Gormo`s Shed.
Approximately five years of doing this has attracted a few followers to my YouTube channel and some of those have decided to join the forum as well.
In that way it has been of benefit to the forum, and I hope that the membership continues to grow steadily by word of mouth or recommendation as I`m sure it will.
So Toto, thanks for the opportunity you gave me to have a free...
Just recently my wife and I spent three nights out at Bathurst.
Bathurst is a regional city in NSW approx. 2 1/2 hours drive from Gormo`s place in Sydney. It lays on the other side of the Blue Mountains, otherwise known as the Great Dividing Range.
It`s a beautifully kept friendly city with quite a few nice and interesting things to visit.
The people out there were following the Covid practices to the letter, so we felt quite safe, plus I have not heard of any cases out there...
Sounds easy enough, but to explain it properly actually takes quite some time at the computer keyboard, explaining the ins and outs of the software I use to make it happen.
I have taken the stance that I`m teaching someone who`s never attempted such a thing before, so I`ve got back to basics....I think.
Here`s a simple method for creating roads.
I developed this method myself some years ago especially to suit those flat townscapes that a lot of us seem to do, including me.
Of course not everybody models flat towns, but the temptation to build your Metropolis often over-rides your artistic self in the cause of getting stuff done and finished quicker.
Anyway....I think this method gives you an acceptable road surface in the end, so give it a go if you`re game.......
This will be my last Kit Bash video for a while as I think we need to move onto something different.
Don`t quite know what that might be just yet, but that has been the case from episode to episode of Gormo`s Shed since it started......who knows ????.....
Anyway this episode covers a serious makeover of the classic Metclafe station kit.
Apologies to those who have already followed this build on my layout topic, so for those people I am repeating myself, but with the...
Still on the kit bashing theme and why not, I think most of us have a crack at it from time to time during our railway modelling careers.
This particular project has moved up a gear with the level of difficulty, in fact when you take the plunge into a project like this, you cannot be absolutely sure it will work out successfully, or just turn out to be a dismembered pile of parts that will no longer fit together as they were originally intended.
But that is the nature of kit...
You don`t have to be restricted to the finish that comes with proprietary kits, they can be adapted to suit what you would prefer on your railway.
This sometimes can involve a lot of extra work.....ask me how I know this.?.....however the conversion today is one of the easier ones to complete.
It is simply taking some Metcalfe Red Brick Terraces and spraying them with pastel colours. The colour is up to you or you could do them White......completely up to you.!
The thing to keep...
This episode covers the making of pipe wagon loads for bogie bolster wagons, however the logic can be applied to shorter wagons as well…….it just means the lengths and type of pipe has to be considered.
The method is not rocket science and involves the use of basic skills and materials at very little cost.
The pipes are made from paper drinking straws, which I purchased here in Oz at 6 dollars for 250 straws, and Yes, I do have a surplus of straws now...
