Can anyone explain the definitions of the following terms used in (G)WR working documents such as Local Parcels Train Formations and Passenger Train Working books for stations:-
1) Small Van
2) Van
3) Large Van
4) Van (8 wheel)
5) Gas Heated Brake (e.g.: Van No. 57 or 305)
6) Brake Van (I assume this is a BG (GWR or BR)?
7) Parcel Van
Non of these are Syphon G or GUV, because these terms (which I understand) are also used in the same documents.

I am after some help, with a photos, information or dwgs wrt a LNER 6 wheeled coal wagon. There where 6 of these wagons built in WWII by the LNER, there purpose was to stop enemy tanks or trains going though tunnels in the event of a invasion. They where filled with concrete (that's why they had 6 wheels. They where placed at the entry points to the tunnels, on a make shift siding. How they positioned them in the tunnels I don't know or how they decided which tunnels they were stationed at....

I've done a bit of experimenting with spare Hornby X9098M NEM pocket conversions intended to upgrade earlier Pullman coaches to the later NEM pocket type, the intention being to see if I can add this modification to the "Hearse Van" (formerly a Southern Railway 'Gangwayed Luggage Van') to enable me to 'close-couple' the complete train for my "Winston Churchill Funeral Train".
Removing the 'clip-in' bogies from the van, it was apparent that the flat underside and the 'Boss' on which...

As an aside to the reworking of 5 Pullman coaches I'm involved in presently for my "Winston Churchill Funeral Train" project, I discovered a few perhaps little known Hornby parts which could be useful for converting the earlier Chinese made Pullmans with non-NEM couplings to the later NEM pocket versions, meaning you can either fit (for example) Kadee's or other NEM pocket couplings, or Hornby's own 'Close Couplings' as in my case. The conversion kit parts, to convert one coach are Hornby...
