Nice one Col, and even took us through fault finding as well  :avatar:

I've still to get a motor shield, but definately look worth having a go.

Brilliant Colin, but way above my PC abilities! I'll stick with my Lenz LH100's for the present.:avatar:

I think I will make a test board and start to bring some of these bits and pieces together. I'll use DCC++ with Rudy's DCC decoders and see what comes out of the mash. Going to use JMRI but maybe import a diagram from Anyrail. I have an old router kicking around that I should be able to make use of so it's an independent system. Paul I may need help!

I think I could be digging a big black hole for myself here Keith:facepalm:. I'm certainly not brilliant but I do suspect you may be under selling yourself . Dive in and have a go ;)

Great stuff. JMRI needs a little confidence I think but is a very handy program. Paul took me through the basics ........ I don't think I quite broke him.:avatar:

It's something I'd like to try with Luib Bridge when it's built up In the shed. I like the loco roster and I'm sure a mimic panel is possible as well.

    Cheers for now.

    and just arrived for me

For scale thats a 5p piece - approx 18mm in diameter

and they are - 433Mhz transcievers, so a wireless controller may emerge - that got your interest Col :avatar:

Certainly has Paul, have you seen Dave Bondar's DCC++ Wirless hand set? Go Here and scroll down to the Wireless bit. A pal has given me a couple of Arduino Compatible ESP8266 boards. I think for now I will go the router mobile phone route:giggle: but the HC-12's are very exciting. What you planning ?

Hi Toto, the roster seems a great idea, I have only scratched at it but if you right click on an engine you can open a throttle directly from it. Also if you use the mobile app it lists the engines there to. Mind blowing :hammer: Don't break Paul I think we need him :giggle:

Managed to get into the cave today, I hooked up the DCC++ Arduino and used the nano servo board ( the one Paul designed ) with JMRI to operate the points. As always a bumpy start but worked well I will tidy it up and try and post some pics soon. The learning curve just went vertical. Are you wireless yet Paul ?

Hi Dave, it's a Hornby R157. I was quite surprised that it took a decoder :).

Hi Peeps, I have the sensors working on JMRI Layout panel now but am having 'issues' with the Turnouts (points to us). If I load them in the DCC++ Sensor and Turnout table the Layout panel doesn't seem to pick them up and adds a second set of turnouts into the JMRI Turnout Table. Also there is a bit of confusion in how to load them into the Mega Arduino EEPROM. My learning curve is now a sine wave .
Think I'll wipe it and start again.
Glad to hear your Mega has arrive Paul.

    Hi Colin

Well the motor shield arrived today

It's the DK electronics Motor shield, which appears to be a clone of the older Adafruit Mk 1 motor shield - not a problem, however a bigger issue is the header pins are not directly available, push comes to shove I'll just make an intermediate jumper board from a piece of strip board. As I need to get at the pins for the DCC++ controller.

The board itself has some interesting features, it can drive up to 4 DC motors, or 2 stepper motors and 2 servo's.

Just downloading the Adafruit drivers etc, then will have a play

Fair enough, they could have left it to tomorrow so at least they tried.
