G`day Folks, This week we are moving forward more into the hobby I feel.? How many layouts have you seen with fantastic fully functional sound locos, great scenery and immaculate track geometry, even possibly with little animated cameos, great lighting and presentation......yet..?????........no background sounds. In a lot of places in the world now it`s difficult to find an area where there is absolute quiet, devoid of birds, traffic, people, machinery, aircraft...etc. etc. etc.......in other words, all the trappings of modern life. So why don`t we add ambient background sounds to our railways in an attempt to replicate the real world.??? Possibly because it can be a pain assembling a sound track full of different files recorded at different levels with varying background sounds within them. This week I think I can provide you with a method, which will, in it`s simplest form, provide you with a background sound track that is consistent and that will run for as long as you wish, within reason. It`s all in the video below Creating a Soundscape for Your Railway http://www.clickGormo
Just got a new bit of kit that will help the use of Gormo's soundscapes. It's a POLK BOOMBIT speaker. It's aimed at being a wearable handsfree device, but I'm just using the Bluetooth speaker capability. Size is about 7cm X 3.5cm X 2cm. I've made it so it hangs in the roof of my goods shed, and because of all the openings, the sound is well distributed. https://en.polkaudio.com/shop/polkaudio-portablespeakers/boombit I have no links to this company. Oh, the best bit is the price. I got mine on fleabay for £2.99 delivered. Jim
