Entrance into the potting shed, approx 700mm of straight

10ft Radius curve around planters heading towards the shade house

Using an angle grinder to slot the c channel to form the curve, then repeat on the other side before adding 300mm bracing

You look very busy Ralph. As this is an extension, is there an earlier thread covering the existing arrangement that I have missed? Best of luck with it. Looks strong enough to carry a sit on!

    Cheers

    and happy modelling

    Hi Ralph
That’s a very interesting construction method I like the idea of the Flexi stud wall plate on its side to get the curves
Great use of off the shelf materials
Will watch with interest as you progress :thumbup::thumbup:

At each slot in the c channel a 300mm noggin is added and riveted both side of the cut this forms a ladder effect

There’s a slight camber to aid running around the curve

    Nice and level so far......

    Reverse view of the curve.

The plan is to top these panels off wth “villa board” which is used in wet room lining over here in Aus. Lots more to do!

With the traverse removed I’ve formed a large “letterbox” opening that will allow returning locomotives from the extension to access the traversed and then by moving the traverser to the spare line, do a run around the coaches / wagons ready for their next duty out on the garden section. All five lines will be accessible.

Potting shed side view of the letterbox

Same again but now with the new boards fitted. This area will be used to store and arrange the stock

Traversed back in showing the 5 storage lines.

View of the traverser lines from the potting shed

Board tapers at the exit end out of the potting shed to allow easy access to outside.

I’ve made a sliding door from Perspex, which runs in channeling operated by a draw string which you can just make out running up the potting shed wall, then along the roof to the operators position.

Very nice - how you intending dealing with the heat - for us northerners it would be insulation for the cold and wet.

    Hi Ralph,

I love the ladder racking system. Great, solid foundation to build on. This is going to be an epic I think. Keep up the great work Sir.

hi Richard, here are a few shots of the layout in the garage which will be extended into the potting shed then out into the garden.

This is the right hand side just before entrance into the traverser.

This is the site of the proposed scrap yard scene, still to be built.

Cracking layout indoors already! Pardon my ignorance, Ralph, but is this 'O' Gauge you're running?

Looks like there's going to be some scope for true scale operating timetables here! Send a train out through the hatch, get the kettle on, make a wet and a sarnie and be back in time to see the train returning! :)

Looking forward to seeing this progress further - weather permitting of course. I know that frustration very well.
