Just watched this one whilst the boys were watching the tv. Plenty of operations on the different branch lines and well worth the watch.

    Cheers, Gary.

Delay In Block is one of my favourite YouTube channels, there's a LOAD of videos filmed on industrial shortlines that are very interesting.

Here's a blast from the past!

It must bee about 6 months since I last shared anything about this layout. when operating at night, it really needed a couple of more lights along the front so the train can pass from shadow into light and out again. I have just added 2 new structures the achieve this. At the left hand end I have added a modified Atlas Telegraph Pole and Shanty - I fitted a light to the pole to illuminate the phone box and it also casts a nice light on the train going past (I may need to use a bigger resistor as I think it might be a little too bright at the moment). Towards the right hand end I added the Atlas Crossing Tower as a yard tower/signal box. I added an LED, figure and blinds to the inside so light shines out over the tracks, again lighting the train as it goes past.

    Until next time,

    Ian

Nice additions to the layout Ian
The switch tower is very US Railroading and your little yard very suitable for it :thumbs::thumbs:

We need a local 2 day exhibition - something Newcastle/Central Coast/Maitland type area that fits in with a weekend when I can take time off.

    Hi everyone,

There has been a little more progress today - I have strung 6 'wires' on the telegraph poles (only 6 more to go). It looks good but there is no way I could do this on a bigger layout as the line is soooo fine. I'm using EZ-Line from Berkshire Models - it has 700% stretch so it won't break or snap poles if it gets caught on anything.

    Until next time,

    Ian

The wires look great Ian.:thumbs::thumbs: I have always wanted to add power lines to the poles on my layout, but trying to source EZ Line has been difficult in the past so I have let it go. But having seen this, it stirs me to search for it again !

    Cheers, Gary.

    Hi Gary,

I got this at the Epping show at Rosehill from Modellers Warehouse - $22 for 30m. It would be easier to fit if I was content for it to sit at the bottom of the insulators but I wanted it to sit about half way up them so it is really time-consuming but I think it is worth it on a small layout.

Thanks Toto - it would be easier in O scale as you could use their thicker gauge line.

Thanks Pete. They do 2 gauges and several different colours. I'm thinking of trying to get some of the heavier one to use as ropes on on loads.

    Hello Ian,

I joined Platform 1 the other day and have read your thread from the beginning to your latest update with great interest. I think you have produced a quality shunting layout (or should I say switching). The shaping of the baseboard is an inspiration and adds a new dimension to the usual rectangular layout. Keep up the quality.

    All the best, John.

PS. I'll have to look for Gormo's videos on backscene printing. I've got him on subscription but don't remember them, although I have probably watched then.
