Ballast down and now covered in glue, I’ll finalise the ballast in and around the Tunnels once they are in place.

I see you've had a weekend possession on then with the lifting and lining gang working hard. :avatar: I't looking great now the ballast is down. :tophat::tophat::tophat: Steve on another note would you very much mind if I used your principle idea of a sectional layout coming out of a tunnel? Reason I ask is because I've had this idea for a new layout on an embankment and which comes out of a tunnel and ultimately passes under a stone bridge, the route I want to model is the disused Leek arm of the Churnet Valley line so its a very different scenic to Dawlish and the viewing will be very different perspectives.

First stage of post ballast weathering, I’ve sprayed JLTRT track dirt down the centre whilst the PVA glue mixture is still wet, I find the paint seeps in better and usually dries lighter than the above pictures, once dry I’ll mask and spray the usual browns.
I want to highlight the difference between the bull head and flat bottom on this layout like I did on Severn Tunnel East.

First was the JLTRT track dirt down the centre of the bull head track as I want it to look like it’s been there longer.
Masking tape laid and a covering in Rail match sleeper grime, then from a low angle Railmatch frame dirt to highlight the rail sides. Lastly a quick very light waft of Army issue Mud brown number 6 ( from EBay ) I also used this to give the track a coat before ballast.
Bottom pic is the final result

Hi Steve. I'm paying attention to your ballast weathering. I'll be attempting something similar for the first time in the not too distant future. I also like the track running under the bridge. First class. I feel a bit of copying coming on.

Very enjoyable watching this come together and great inspiration.

    Cheers

    Toto

First up is the outlet pipe, I’ve added a bit more to it just to try and disguise that it’s a nozzle off a tube of silicone!
A few additional supports plus some more growth. I will add another pack of bull rush to the right.
