Hi Pete, It would have been the best thing but I took advantage of having Paul down the other day to get some technique guidance. It won't be too difficult to sort it. Cheers Toto
Well, the biggest part of the remodelling has been done. Some rock moulds and plaster bandage have been installed to define a narrow ledge along the rising rock face to create a rough path up. Also I remodelled the area to the right of the tunnel mouths to create a more rock like effect. It was too smooth before. Last but not least was the entrance to the upper road tunnel. The entrance roof was too high so I have lowered it a bit which now looks better. All I have to do now is hit it with some plaster of Helsinki to create some rougher edges and try and emulate a rock finish. some photo's as always. The path up the edge of the rock face. and again ..... The area to the right of the tunnel mluths ...... and the upper tunnel entrance has been lowered. Now just the plaster and then I will start of the painting process again. here we go. cheers toto
Does it sell plaster speaking of which, I have now added my plaster of Athens ....... The rocks down the side. Plaster bandage netting now hidden. entrance roof ....... no more flat edge ....... and a close up. I'm happier with the tunnel entrance now as its much more difficult to see inside which was what I wanted ...... darkness. Now ..... just to wait on it to dry thoroughly and I can start painting the base coat again .... black wash ..... highlights ...... never stops. cheers toto
Happy to see you've overcome the little issues on the Luib Bridge scenic front Toto, those modifications are looking good.
Well, It's time for highlights. No ...... I'm not off to the hairdresser for a boy George makeover ...... It off to the shed. I was out for a beer with my dad yesterday afternoon so completely lost the whole of last night. Got home, hit the couch and out like a light until about an hour ago. A bit of a waste of time but given that my sleeping pattern is all messed up right now, it was great to catch up with it. So ..... The shed beckons and the highlights to the rock faces are first on the agenda for today. It won't take long so there will be other tasks being looked at as well. Hoping to look at forming a plywood former for the clay tunnel fascia to be fitted against. My isopropyl alcohol arrived about 10 minutes ago. This will be my wetting agent when it comes to starting the ballasting. I'll post a few photo's up once I get going. Cheers for now Toto
Now, I'm just wondering what you did with all those cats...?? So, what did you do with the cats...?? Cheers, Gary. ps, Luib Bridge is certainly taking shape now !
Highlights completed. Awaiting camera battery charging. packed in on me two minutes ago. wont take long. Now. I need a bit of a tidy up to clear some space for the next couple of tasks as the shed is like a bomb site with left over paint and all sorts just waiting to cause havoc so a clear up is in order. Ill be back. cheers toto
Started the clear up. Also looked out the scenic stuff that I have in stock. I'll post up the photos later. There will need to be another tip run tomorrow to get rid of some of the crap. As much as I'd like to keep some of it, it needs to go. I can't get moving for some of the handy items that ou keep " just in case ". Back later Toto
Left over paint Toto ... you haven't seen my shed there's enough surplus paint on the racks to do a complete face lift and internal make over on an averaged size housing estate. With still a bit left to give the local community centre a spruce up.
Know the feeling. Waiting for SWMBO to get in fom her mums to take over a bit doggie sitting to free me up again. I nipped out to Aldi to try and pick up a cheap smoothie maker to use as a ground cover sponge / sawdust grinder for DIY ground cover. Tried two stores and no sign of them. However I did get cheap sponges, hair spray, hamster bedding . I ordered a coffee grinder from Amazon for £13.00 .... £2.00 cheaper than aldis smoothie maker. It gets delivered Monday. I already have some proprietory brands with some more coming but from now on, I'm going to save myself a fortune making my own. I'll be starting of with some muted greens and Browns. Should be back in the shed later. I have a few photos of the rock face with highlights painted on which I'll post up and continued to clear out some more space for working in. Catch up later Toto
Yep I'm looking forward to seeing the rockface come together, I guess making your own scenic scatters is the way to go with something sizable like Luib Bridge and of course you control the colour tones you want. I know Elton Crossing cost me a fortune in static scatter materials and that is only 12 foot long and three feet or so wide. Now don't get hiding away in the world of micro geology because I'm about to post up some nice pictures which when you see I'm sure you will go and order one.
Jeez man thank goodness SWMBO didn't see this little lot as she is in Cologne, this morning the postman delivered the Brit in TWO boxes, the delrins came, the Hold and Fold from Eileens and some other stuff such as axle bushes for the 24 also came and some stuff for a job I'm on with in the village... all strapped up with rubber bands, the postman feels very happy because he says his round is very secure and Royal Mail are putting him on overtime. Pictures in a minute
A couple of pictures of the rock face with the highlights in. Now that I have my camera back. and another ........ thats it for now. cheers toto
