York Paul and I were discussing motors yesterday and I told him I would share some that I had bought very reasonably in the past. These at £3.20 each or make an offer (which I have done when buying multiples of 5). Or these at £11.50 for 2 albeit that I actually bought these which at the time worked out at £7 each at the time I bought them but 5 of them came with brass gears attached which were not shown in the advert. To give him his due, the seller promptly sent me another 5 without gears and that brought the price right down even though I had to pay duty on the free 5.
Thanks Dundee I did wonder, I think they would be best suited to loco's which run at higher speeds, I'll get a couple ... will come in for the Brit build.
forgot to mention a 5 pole skewed motor is smoother again. However with motors its not only cores, but also the number of turns per core, gauge of wire, used, and if single wire or multiple wires - just ask the R/C car community which motor they prefer, and sit back for the lectures Paul
Maybe depends more on the layout than the loco. If it's a short layout, the loco is never going to reach higher speeds and therefore trundles through the layout as opposed to gallops. Luib Bridge is a great example of that but ...... As modules are added between Paul and I and we eventually create a full circuit, then they will be able to stretch their legs a bit. Cheers Toto
You have no idea ...... We are full of them ...... It's just getting them off the ground. Luib Bridge and the highland type theme seems to be working for us though ..... Until I throw a spanner in the works Toto
I bought 4 brand new Escap motors a few months ago, tested them on arrival and all OK but not used any yet.
I have used the canon motors in my Connoisseur Y6 and the 0-4-0 starter loco (Nellie/Polly) and they both perform without issue on DCC. In fairness I haven't used the others but I believe that Kerry Viney (@Kerry Viney) has.
Well I've just bought six of the Cannon motors at the princely sum of FIVE Pounds each. Thanks for the tip off Rob . So that's my next Sulzer build sorted with a few in stock for more kits later on.
