During one of my brief escapes from the demo stand over the weekend I passed by Jim's stand. On the outside of the stand he had a sample of a forthcoming bogie brick wagon built up. It looks superb and since I have wanted a bogie brick wagon since never managing to find a 4mm kit for one. I had contemplating building one using my cutter but since Jim has done the deed I have my name down for a couple. As soon as Jim puts images on his site I will update this thread.
Sounds interesting. Don't have a clue what they look like. I'll look forward to seeing it. Cheers Toto
I'm sure I need one of these. It'll be nice to see the level of detail that Jim puts into his. How much were they ?
I am sure that I need several. Jim said that they would be less than £100 each and that they would be equivalent to a couple of normal sized wagons. I can see me twisting my son's arm for some for birthday/christmas next year...last year he got me a couple of Jims new (at the time) grain wagons.
Yes you need bricks Toto... and lots of them too... for that 10 foot long tall viaduct you are going to make for next the extension sections to Luib Bridge.
Sorry Toto, I completely missed your question, Jim was hoping that they would come in at under £100 but in reality you are getting the equivalent etches of a couple of four wheeled wagons for the money so it does represent good value.
No worries Rob. I will more than likely have myself down for one. They look an interesting wagon. Toto
No mention of it on his website as yet. You would have thought that there would have been a bit of a pre-release promotion of it.
Yes, and Trix did one as well. I have two of the Dublo ones, one in LNER livery (with a small NE in the corner, not the lettering as shown above) and a later BR example. The Tri-ang one was moulded plastic (if I recall correctly, done in a rather bright red) and the Dublo one was printed tinplate on a cast metal chassis. I'm not sure what the Trix one was made from, but I think it was one of the wagons from their tinplate era.
This is the one on Jim's site (photo copyright Jim McGeown) - I hope that a couple will wing there way to me as birthday/Christmas pressies from my son this year.
In between the move and builders I completely forgot to update this thread. I did manage to twist my son's arm and I now have a pair of these awaiting my return to modelling. Once I recall which box they reside in I will take some photos.
