    G`day Folks,
This week I am going to take you through my methods for building very cheap signals like this one below.

The materials consist of craft sticks, Q Tips ( Cotton Buds ), 3mm LED`s, a paper clip, plastic drinking straws, a commercial ladder, Super Glue and paint and fine electrical wire.

    Time and patience

    A limited amount of skill

And butta bing, butta boom !!!!!!!........you have a 2 aspect colour light signal for your railway.

All is explained in the video below and arms you with enough information to go off and build your own version

    Thanks Gormo
I have a few red/green diode controlled LEDs that now have a new purpose.

    Cheers

    Ahah !!!
I see some signals coming Richard.????.
I was looking at the real thing the other day, down the road at the railway line, and you know, it would be fairly easy to replicate with these materials.
    Good luck with the build.
    Cheers

    For sure.

And now that I have finished the control panels for my Dargan layout (finally!!!) I can now schedule some other interesting projects.

    Cheers

Very nice work there again, and it works out cheaper than even the cheap eBay Chinese signals, which I had previously considered a good bargain. I have heard of another cheap way to make ladders which involves cutting a thin strip off a sheet of corflute (the for sale sign stuff). This would reduce the price considerably. Haven't made one myself yet though.
For NSW and Victorian ones I have scanned them, and I think I have even drawn up the dimensions to a NSW one, at least for modern era. If anyone wants the drawing of this I could find it and post it.
I just need to work out a way of easily making one big hood, rather than one per light aspect, so it would be like 80s practice.
    Cheers
    Tony

    Thanks Tony,
Corflute sounds feasible .......will have to look at that......as you say that would bring the price down to practically Zilch !!!!
    Thanks for the info
