I thought as I am getting into more and more different disciplines I thought I should start a new thread to put details other than My layout thread.
So here is my 3D printing, laser cutting, silhouette cutting and anything else that i can think of.
To start off here are some pics of a cabinet build i am just starting for my Prusa i3 MK2.

The first pic is of the parts for the cabinet the second is for the adjustable spool holder.
as you can see I ran out of green PLA but it's only a cabinet.
next I will post some pics of my adventure into laser cutting.
    be seeing you

Here are some laser cut bit and pieces
the mimic panel contains a Megapoint controller.
The switch boxes are for Merg point switches and lighting effects and the engine shed is a Lcut kit doubled in length with my laser cut parts

Very good Bob. I did not realise you were so far on with the laser cutting. I like the big control / mimic panel. Ideally I'd like one twice the length. Can you do bigger ?

    H Toto
500 mm x 300 mm is the largest but you could always fit two together
I think I can feel a request coming on

    Hi Ian
the Lcut kit (half the length of the one in the picture ) is £19.99.
I can make the same parts out of a sheet of ply from Slecuk. the .8mm
thick sheet is £5.62. And 1.5 mm £3.94.
I can make two sheds the same size from one sheet with plenty let over.
But the joy of having my own laser is that I can modify the parts to suit whatever I want to.
My next project is a goods shed for Kyle.

    Hi All
I wonder if anyone can help. I am looking for a supplier of the type of card that Laser cutting companies use for example Lcut.

    Hi All
I have recently bought a Steve Beattie class 24 and I am going to start the build in the next month or so.
I did not fancy drilling the cab roofs for the headboard lights as they are metal castings.
So I asked Steve if I could get hold of the original file of the roof and he was good enough to send me the STL file.
After a little playing with it I came up with this.
    Before Drilling
after drilling and fitting a headboard
    And with the LED on
this is just a rough model now the principal is proved I will spend more time sanding and finishing it.

Excellent work Redpiperbob ... the 24/1 kit is on my shopping list for later on, Mr Beattie does a good line in Class 24's :avatar: Seriously its a cracking kit for detail and one tip if I may offer is if you are modeling a 24 without the fairings then it is best to solder the "seahorses" into their slots before folding the bolster stretcher... I've left mine off because I'm doing the early look without the mods on D5018 and the fairings will cover this bit of the body.

Hey Toto here's an idea for a competition... see how many members can build Class 24's from Steve Beattie and then do a mass Sulzer roadshow procession over Luib Bridge.:thumbup:

Luib Bridge wouldn't take the weight. :avatar: A nice thought though a MPD heaving with Sulzers maybe the odd 21 hanging out in the background. Waiting to be towed away with the Claytons, :avatar:

OK so here are some more pics.
the first is the wiring for the 3 mm LED.
the rest are the SMD LED's I fitted two Knightbright KPH 1608PWFA white LED ultra low.
    with a 1Kohm resistor.
and one of the route board lit.
The pictures are not very good I am afraid.

    Hi Bob

Nice finish - I wonder how well printing it in clear resin would work, it would need a good quality paint to black out the the rest of the roof, but using some translucent paint on the inside may provide interior lighting. mmmmmmm I can feel a test coming on after the Dundee and Elgin shows are over.

Hi Paul maybe a few coats of hi build primer first to help block the light. I did this on the Prusa i3 with blue filament.
I may try it on the DLP photon later on I am still playing with the settings .
    All the best
    Bob
