    Em2.jpg

I've just purchased a Triang EM2 in good condition and full working order .... and it being a new year decided not to enter the boxfile challenge but instead to resurrect my "too large" baseboard 130cm x 24cm (see St Emelia 'plank' thread). I now have 2 EM2's and I've also got a load of old Triang catenary and have a fancy to make a plonk for them so ... track plan ideas
please ... ps I've also got a traverser and because I'm using Peco 100 the number of points needs to be kept to a minimum ... maybe a single line from tunnels with passing loop in the centre? ... early days

A mini-Woodhead line in the making Eh, Ian??? I well remember the 'Woodhead Electrics' going over the "Wicker Arches" into Sheffield Victoria station in the 60's......all gone now though.

Hi Keith never saw the real thing but I've always thought they were one of the best Triang models produced. were they just passenger or did they haul freight?

As this plonk is basically just to run locos on (a mixture of Triang, Mainline, Airfix and Bachmann) then it only needs to be basic and will have a Traverser on the l/h side and a turntable 'or' a segment plate on the right (maybe scenic not sure) it will also have Triang catenary. At this stage I'm not planning on any wagons or carriages

I only ever recall seeing passenger trains Ian, our trips to Sheffield (we lived in Chesterfield) were only occasional back then as we had no car and at that time, neither of my parents could drive anyway. I'd imagine there'd have been freight trains too, as there certainly were through Chesterfield, with all the coal trains when the collieries were running.

Where I'm at on the St Emelia Preservation line; … All track will be Peco 100 .. where points are involved I'll be running my more modern loco's and re-wheeled Airfix/Dapol kit wagons. The main line having no points will allow me to run virtually all my locos Triang etc also incorporating catenary ... it being a preservation line rule 1 applies. it will also incentivise me to build a kit I have (Dapol railbus) Hopefully this won't be a long build but being on the roof weather dependent . Photos of locos currently held to follow. oh yes buildings will be illuminated using adapted remote tea lights as in my Xmas competition build (Platform1 arches brewery/bar)
