Actually Timber, it's a very easy job to renumber/rename/re-logo most loco's. As you're 'into' using household products for modelling where possible, paint/transfers can be removed easily using "Brasso" or car products like "T-Cut", applied with a chamfered cocktail stick and gently rubbed until it disappears, but being careful not to rub into the top coat of loco paint. Pretty much any name/number/logo you can think of is available from a number of suppliers (I use "Fox Transfers" myself, but others are available), a sheet of number transfers isn't that expensive, and you can then rename/renumber a loco to one that isn't available in RTR, with plenty left over for more loco's. A coat of clear varnish to seal everything, and you're done. I accept it does require a measure of patience and 'deftness of fingers' perhaps, but if I can still do it with good results with my eyesight and 'not-so-steady' hands at nearly 72, I'm sure you'd find it easy enough.
    Keith.

I second that. Done a few. And even if it’s £10 on a £40 saving, that’s still £30 saving in your pocket to go on another of your projects, or another item.

Your making the same mistakes my wife makes and falling into the eternal sales mans trap!:avatar:

A bargain is only a bargain when you need something and find it cheaper!
I don't need this engine, I don't need to be relieved of £150, I can think of more pertinent things to spend it on, at this juncture in time. :giggle:
That said, I am familiar with the technique Keith, in fact I have some printable transfer paper in stock to play with in the future! I will defo have a go some time - on an old loco ;)

I currently, barely, have a runnable layout to use it on! :hammer:

Not making any mistake as I can’t afford one in the first place. “Er’in doors” doesn’t give me money to do things like that!

Not that I’m saying I look at that either..:avatar:

A lot of modellers have purchased the Rail Road TTS locomotives just for the decoders and rehoused them into the more detailed models. Then they sell the Rail Road models for a few dollars/pounds less than what they purchased it for !

    Cheers, Gary.

Having decided I need some Slaters Plasticard for my bridge project, I did a bit of shopping around and discovered Antenocitis Workshop have a huge sale on, including Slater items.
Slaters Sheets are 40% off and their plain plasticard is also cheapish

Just been to B&M (UK high street shop), they have artist acrylic paint tubes (big ones) in a wide range of colours for £1.49!

If you have a branch of "Home Bargains" nearby, they stock similar tubes of artists acrylic paint at 99p the last time I checked.

    Hello Andy and others,

    I like the poster !

( Though from another perspective, domestic violence is not funny, the Australian Bureau of Statistics estimate the one in three victims of domestic violence are male victims to a female partner. However, a female is far more likely to be killed by her male partner, whereas female killers are significantly rarer. )

    Regards, Echidna.

I use 6 core burglar alarm cable in conjuction with Seep PM1 point motors (which have a set of auxiliary changeover contacts) to operate the solenoids (3 wires) and the other 3 to operate colour light signals. Saves running 2 sets of cables.
