    Actual text from Terry read...

“Hopefully repairs to the defective traction motor will have her back in traffic for an event on another railway in early July and then back at our gala for late September”

So... looks like it will be sept?

There's the target then. I'll need to consider the wording on the presentation plaque. There are a few parties that have and continue to bring the whole things together.

    Cheers

Moving on with the display case having glued the track in place and then an ash trackbed and ballast I focused attention to the cutting slope by applying layers of static grass, first off was to lay down a thin carpet of 2mm Summer Green as a base, I then built up with 4 and 6mm Patchy and Autumn Grass with a dot or two of Dead Grass to give effect. Scatter mixes and scrub being added and adding a few scrub bushes and low trees later that will be done. Next I'll look at the foreground which will expose some of the rocks and soil detail beneath a layering of riverside weeds, I'm attempting to capture the terrain of the Llangollen railway as it winds its was along hugging the River Dee bankside beyond Berwyn Tunnel. We shall see once I've weathered down the track with Sleeper Grime.

Well that's scenic bit finished so back to the bogie build because we will very soon need a Sulzer diesel loco to display on it.

Funnily enough Alsager Shed's Jinty 47606 is seen meandering along onto the display diorama which is meant to be somewhere along the Llangollen line between Berwyn and Glyndy.

And on its way back to join the main line at Gobowen with a very light goods train.

    Looks lovely. Very impressive.

Out of pure interest, what do you do on the sides?

Thanks Andy, once I've built the wooden case frame and installed the plexi-glass (a bit like a fish tank) I'll paint the sides matt black but first I need to see how it all fits together. Then Toto can affix a nice shiny brass plaque on the base telling the story... and using some nice shiny brass cabinet screws not the cheapo imitation ones you get in B&Q :avatar:

It will be a pleasure. I'll need to start thinking of the wording. :scratchchin:

The miserable lot shut our B&Q in Alfreton! Must admit I've spent more money in Wickes than I ever did in B&Q though.......too expensive by far, even with my "Over 60's card"!:giggle:

In order for me to get discount on my yellow B&Q Trade Point card now under the current system I have to spend a minimum £1000 every month in order to get 10% off so in the second month in order to maintain the 10% discount I have to spend £1100 in order to catch the same reward. Needless to say I don't spend £13100 per annum at B&Q :avatar:

That’s because they built a super store at Sutton (and now sold 1/4 off to Aldi!)

I don’t remember a B&Q in Alfreton? Where was that?

Somercotes Andy. (Technically I suppose it's still Alfreton). It became a second 'B&M' store, it's between the old Aldi (now "The Hangar") and the new larger Aldi.
You could guarantee that on Wednesdays, B&Q would be full of "Old Farts" like me buying for the 10% discount, but that's now almost gone, along with most of the "Older Clientele" on Wednesdays!:giggle:
