    Lovely work as usual.......what can I say.???.......Brilliant.!!!
    If I could make a suggestion to enhance the authenticity side of things with the pallets. Probably 10% of all wooden pallets and skids in the world are damaged in some way.
    The most common being boards missing top or bottom. Occasionally one or more of the boards will be broken in half creating a gap in the pallet. The pallet is still usable so they circulate until they are damaged to the point where they are unsafe and then taken off for repair or to be dumped.
    The hard wood pallets are usually a standard size...4 foot square...whereas the skids ( usually crappy white softwood ) are made to suit a product.eg. a barbeque or a box full of brooms etc. and they are not valued once used, unless the manufacturer wants them back.
    So if you want to throw in some variety, skids possibly 8 foot x 2 foot are not out of the question. They come in all shapes and sizes which also can make them awkward for freight companies to handle. They would rather handle standard size hardwoods.
    I notice in the pics at least one pallet has a board missing, so you`ve done your homework..:thumbs::thumbs::thumbs::thumbs::thumbs:

    Re the pallets Gormo, I checked out the pallet sizes in the US and they are either 42" x 42" or 40" x 48" or 48" x 48". The 40" x 48" is the most common, followed by the 42" x 42" and last 48" x 48". I have opted for the most common, known as the GMA pallet (Grocery Manufacturers Association) !

    The skids are a different kettle of fish. The 8' x 2' would not be suitable for rail transport as the doors on the freight wagons (box cars or reefers) are only 6' wide ! From what I have read, very little produce is carried on these types of skids. ;)

    Now, I haven't shown the other side of the produce warehouse yet... That will be revealed at a later date !!

    So, I managed to knock up a few more pallets, a fence and a few cardboard boxes. Yesterday afternoon I visited Joe at Casula Hobbies in Sydney and picked up some white metal 44 gallon drums, the rusted versions like the ones I have used on this layout elsewhere. All this has been added to the layout.

    The fence was scratch built from 0.88mm styrene rod (Evergreen) and I used some of the netting from the Ratio kit I purchased years ago.

    The fence posts and rails ready to glue together...


    Now card board boxes are pretty easy to knock up. Yes I could have used propriety boxes, ie, Ratio, Peco etc, etc, but they don't come with the top flaps open ! So I decided to make my own. I cut small pieces of balsa wood, approx 4mm x 3mm x 3mm and glued these to some thin brown card, courtesy of Toto. :thumbs:


    Next I cut the card into a cross around the block of balsa and coloured the top of the balsa black using a Sharpie...


    Now it was a matter of gluing the opposite sides up, with a small dab of super glue. Once set, the flaps were trimmed down and folded over, above the blackened balsa...


    The 44 gallon drums were painted and lightly weathered. I allowed these to dry before bring all these elements together to create the scene...

    Two locomotives rebranded from their previous railway (railroad !) companies...

    The RS3 (green and cream) started life on the Seaboard...


    The GP10 (orange) started life on the ICG (Illinois Central Gulf)...


    ...and now they belong to JSRR (Juwair & Sajour Rail Road)


    Both these locos will be suitably weathered tomorrow afternoon... :D

    Now I just have to get on to repairing the fiddle yard/end back scene board. But before I disappear again, here is a photo of the finished produce warehouse scene...

    Well, not much more can be done to the layout as it will be packed into the car tomorrow for the Canberra Model Railway Exhibition. So, I'll call it done and dusted on this exercise.

    The last thing that needed repairing was the scenic break between the scenic part of the layout and the fiddle yard. All is complete and ready to go, or I should say disassembled ready for tomorrow.

    I did rebrand and weather up another caboose (guards van/brake van) last night to take along with me.

    Here is a pic of the completion with every siding filled with locomotives and rolling stock...


    ...and the weathered caboose with the new railroad branding, Juwair & Sajour...
