Im clumsy some times. Not realising, I knocked the head off a buffer on one of my PAA wagons I was converting, so decided to replace all 4 with new. I’d seen that the new company accurascale did buffers, so I thought I’d give them a try. 8 buffers come in one pack. (I won’t quote prices as if anyone reads this in a few years they may have gone up, as would postage). Arrived in a big A4 envelope that I had to sign for at the post office as were delivered in the day when we were at work... why do delivery companies do this? Is it not time we had evening deliveries?) Nice little pack anyway. Tipped them out.. sprung, good detail. No instructions as to what size hole you need to drill to fit them, so out with the micrometer and measured the shank as 1.75mm. I only had 1.5mm so had to open out with a round file. I don’t think they are bad? Infact the lack of info as to what hole size is needed would be my only grumble!
Superb Andy and don't forget to paint the buffer shank a shiney silver colour because Oleo's were in essence just a hydraulic damper.
Yeah... but that may affect the working spring... see how we go. That said, they will still have tension locks so probably never be needed. I’ll paint tomorrow
