    Well yes...

Only have to add the finials, add door handles and paint the ridge capping !

Now, back to the other things...

    Cheers, Gary.

    Thanks Toto.

There are lots of individual bricks to paint, five colours all up ! I used my chalk method (again) for the mortar, choosing not to have heavy mortar all over the building. I think it works well. I'm still deliberating whether or not I should leave the buttress course at the base in buff or to paint it to resemble the rest of the brick work... In a way, the buff does work. ;)

    Cheers, Gary.

Your chalk method for weathering masonary is brilliant Gary... any chance of a bit of a workshop how to at some point when the pressure is off?

I'd agree. I think the buff does work. Fine as it is. :tophat:

The finish is excellent, the chalk does pull it all together.
Regarding the lower buttress, maybe paint the it blue brick?

    Cheer's, Pete.

    Hi Gary.

I can't add much to what has been said. It looks really terrific.
I think the lower buttress looks good as is, and sets out the line of the foundation.
    Well done
Looking forward to seeing it all at the Epping Exhibition

    Steve

Thank you all for the kind replies. I'm currently uploading a video to youtube right now, should be available to watch in about and hour (9.20pm tonight).

Pete, that ain't a bad idea. I did google several images of LMS station buildings and I'm close to the livery, except for the doors not being maroon. I couldn't find any images of the buttress brickwork painted buff, but hey, rule 1 applies here. ;)

    Cheers, Gary.

Hi Gary is there any chance you could take a photo with a rule showing the position of the coupling in relation to the rail height.
So I can get a height to install a couple to e test

Sorry for late reply Chris, been busy getting it all together...

Anyway, here is a pic for you, please note that I have used my 4mm scale rule beside the coupling and the increments are in mm.

    Cheers, Gary.

OK, so tomorrow I pack the incomplete River Dee Meats into the car for this weekends exhibition. I have been busy today fine tuning a few things like the fiddle yard.

Whilst giving it a test run earlier. I noticed a derailment with the Pannier, then the Jinty... :scratchchin: The short section of track between the fiddle yard and the main baseboard had a slightly tighter radius in one spot than what I had originally pinned down and subsequently glued in place. So, up with that track and small portion of raised base board and in with the new. The outer fiddle yard track also had to be realigned to suit the new entrance. Now all rewired, both locos run fine through this small section... :)

    The new section of track...

The realignment of the outer fiddle yard track...

The inner track, no realignment needed !

What my lounge room looked like earlier today as I race to get together a working layout.

Still have a few hours tonight and tomorrow morning to fiddle with a few other bits and pieces.... :faint:Almost time for several gin & tonics me thinks...! ;);)

    Cheers, Gary.

SMR Chris recommended that I give the baseboards a coat of paint, so I quickly splashed a little raw umber and some black about...

    Before...

    After...

Yes, it definitely makes a difference. I may even do some ballasting and scenery whilst at the exhibition. I'm sure that will make a great talking point !

    Cheers, Gary.

Have you ever tried "Ballast Magic" ? It is a powder you mix in with the ballast, tamp into place then mist it over with water. Good for small sections, but for a big area the diluted PVA method probably works a lot better. Only thing - it does take time to set, so I wouldn't leave it to the Monday to try any ballasting!

Caskamite glue? (Is that’s how it’s spelt?) we used this for a model diorama of the desert back in 1991 (gulf war) for sand and mixed it with caskamite powder and sprayed it. I’m surprised it’s not been used more?

Its Cascamite Andy... at school in Woodwork lessons remember it made very good casts when the residue was left to in plastic coffee cups. Basically as a fine powder resin compound if used with a bulking agent it has the qualities to make nice sharp casts.

Set up and after a good nights sleep, I should be ready to roll in the morning...., well I hope so ! o_O

Chris has been kind to knock up a few signs to place around the layout explaining how a layout comes together and one that asks the public to 'ask questions' !

    Cheers, Gary.
