So, not many pics today as I never got out to have a quick gander at other layouts until about 2pm, but I have a few of my layout to share...

Doing his normal thing of smiling, Chris was very valuable today as the layout generated a lot of interest. Chris as usual, did an outstanding job of keeping trains running and engaging the public. Thanks mate.

HartleyMartin as we know him here, came along today and brought a few pieces to run on the layout. Martin was an inspiration today, showing the young how to drive trains on the layout. Well done mate, looking forward to having you back on Monday.

Last pic is something I truly fell in love with ! This is Chris's DPU that he has had for some time. It ran faultlessly all day running shuttles back and forth between other shunting duties. Chris has been kind enough to loan me the DPU over the weekend. Whether he gets it back again is a different story !

I'll post up more pics on another thread, or if any member here starts a Rosehill 2019 thread, I'll just add to that.

Well it's almost time to hit the hay, so I'll sign off now and check in, in the morning before Jack and I head off.

Today went well and there was a constant flow of people for at least 95% of the day. The numbers were good.

As Martin said, there are plenty of people who model British here in Oz. In fact it was funny that a chap came up and said, "Yay, a British layout...!" Currently there are only a handful of British layouts on the exhibition scene and I do know that the organising clubs would like to see more. The popularity of the Aussie flavour has gathered a lot of momentum in the last ten years, especially now that there is a broader spectrum of high quality of models available.

You are quite correct Martin. The legs are 1m in height and to the top of the layout (baseboard height) would be 103cm. I make a habit of making the baseboard height accessible for the young and old. Any higher and the children won't see anything and if it is too low, then you and I both would end up with bad backs !

Martin, that coach does look good behind the 0-4-0 ! A simple respray and new decals, you'll have a brand new coach awaiting passengers !

Gormo, I think next exhibition I do I'll take my computer chair ! Having wheels on it gives me the freedom to move about the layout and it will certainly give my weary feet a break !

Well I have had my hiatus from the layout for a few weeks now and I decided to start up again on the weekend. Although rather slowly, I made a start on improving the look of the abattoir.

This is what it looked like for the last couple of weeks and at the exhibition.

First a few other shades of brown were selected and I started picking a few of the monotone bricks out in these colours.

Then a tonne of chalk dust was smudged into the mortar gaps and lightly dusted with a soft brush.

Once all the chalk dust had been brushed off the large paving stones, a clear matt coat was applied and this is the result.

The heavy chalk build up in the corner of the buttresses has been removed and a little touch up needs to be completed in other places. Otherwise I'm happy with the result.
