Update; It arrived this afternoon, only thing is I ordered the plain green and I've been sent the early wasp stripe version! Not going to complain as it is the one I would have preferred, it was also listed at £189.50, £14.50 more than I was charged, being a tight wad I didn't want to pay the extra :avatar: Result!!
I will post up some photos later.

    Cheer's, a very happy Pete.

Think I prefer the striped version too.
Plain green looks a little bland.

The other reason I went for the plain green was because my 08 is also plain green.
Any way a few photos of the loco, it's also a heavy beast!

I also gave it a running in session, 30 minutes in both directions. Next job, fit a dcc chip, 21pin which I have in stock until I can get a sound chip from Digitrains.

    Cheer's, Pete.

Makes me wonder why you don’t get a number in O gauge (do you get transfers with it? ) yet they are always numbered in OO

Thanks for that Paul, I had found the web site but not that particular page, really useful!
Where it says a loco was scrapped would it be close to where it finished its life? I'm thinking of those that were cut up in Rotherham.
Actually I have just answered my own question. If you click on the locos number, D2409, it brings up that locos history, it finished up at Staveley Barrow Hill 41E in 1965 before scrapping in 1970.
    What a brilliant site!!

    Cheer's, Pete.

I suspect the case with shunting engines was that they were disposed of locally and very often cut up on site due to their inability to run on mainlines at speed even as class 8 partially fitted consists, whereas scrap mainline engines were often clustered together at depots or stabling points and put up on scrap tender lists as job lots. Thus half a dozen scrap mainline locos stabled together at say Toton or Crewe South would be purchased for disposal by a metal dealer in Port Talbot or Leicester and then travel there in consist as a special working.
