Now ...... the 4mm winner shall be announced shortly as the jury is still out on that and there is a couple of finishing touches being done to the prize. Another fantastic scratch built Culvert in 4mm scale. So keep your eyes open over the next couple of days for the announcement.

Congratulations to you Gary  for being winner of the O Gauge prize and thank you to all the folks who also entered with naming suggestions, it wasn't an easy decision because all the submissions were great but Gary's was the one which really stood out as a little bit different and I believe in the end that was what clinched things. Now as Toto says the 4mm winner will be announced this week.

So this is what will be winging its way Down Under... its made from Plaster of Paris and I'll make sure it is packaged well for the journey.

Lucky bugger. They look the business. Now ..... knowing Gary's prowess with scenic, I'd imagine they will blend in seamlessly into an equally superb scene.

    Well done Gary.

    Cheers

Thank you Paul, thank you Toto. :tophat:

My next step will be fitting them into the layout... :scratchchin:

I have a few ideas up my short sleeve... Might mean I'll have to lift the track, but hey, modelling is a challenge at times !

    Cheesr, Gary.

Now my sincere apologies for delays in completing the 4mm culvert bridge prize... my excuse is that it was cold... er it rained a lot... oh the milkmans mother in law lost her cat in a nearly overhanging tree... I missed the bus and was late home... oh really no seriously thing here have been a bit busy recently on the workshop front and also with business.

So here are the two OO Gauge culverts now finished and awaiting announcement of the winner who I shall hand over to Toto to do the honours.

Oh by the way the loco is not part of the prize... it's just there to show scale... well actually I put it there to show off. :avatar:

So big congratulations there Keith  you'll need to build an embankment extension on your layout unless you already have and unfinished elevated section of track.

Well, what can I say? It's not often I'm lost for words but........!
Seriously guys, I never imagined for a moment that my suggestion would be chosen out of all the very worthy entries. As it happens, I have a part of my layout where these culverts might fit in nicely, though some 'scenic upheaval' might become necessary to incorporate them. It'll make a pleasant change from metal model building, as I'm currently at a point where I'm somewhat brassed off with 'valve gear wrangling'.
In answer to Ian's post referring to water modelling techniques, I'm a bit "Old School" as I stick to using clear yacht varnish rather than the "new fangled stuff" so nothing new from me, I'm afraid Ian. Looking forward to the challenge and my grateful thanks to York Paul for his fantastic modelling, I only hope mine can do justice to Pauls efforts.
Pics will follow in due course.
