    G`day Folks,
Nothing fancy for you this episode.
I have not re-invented the wheel or found the answer to the perfect tension lock coupling, although I`m getting close to that one..??????........ no, no........just a spot of running trains.........a short distraction from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
    Enjoy !!!!

Some brilliant angles there, very well done and put together as always.
Another thing that did it for me was the fact that passenger trains sometimes do stop at your stations, something it seems that most exhibitors seem to forget. The trains that went through I was waiting to see if the conductor would get knocked off his feet...or the newspapers went flying, Maybe next time :avatar:

    Cheers
    Tony

    Thanks Tony,
I`m glad you enjoyed the video.
I do like to see trains flying through a station........an express at speed is a thing to behold.........however the trains do have a role to perform and that is picking up and setting down passengers.
My little Grandsons already have the concept........they like to stop the trains at the station platforms......it`s part of the game for them, however the littlest bloke does like to put just one coach on the platform and the rest of the train is beyond the platform.........not quite sure what`s going on there but he seems to enjoy it..???.....God help the passengers in the last coach !!!!:scratchchin:

Interesting point about exhibitions.........I must say that it`s rare to see model trains at an exhibition actually stopping at the model stations. I guess the exhibitors may be under the impression that trains have to be running continuously......no matter what.!
It certainly would be more interesting to see the trains stop at the stations and then move off again on their journey. There are also bits of electronic add ons available that can take over the job for you.........so no excuses really......just a bit more thought required.

Funnily enough Gormo, I got wrangled in to operate Goulburn on Saturday at the recent exhibition, and I for one stopped the trains in the platform on the up Southern Highlands Express and the up Cooma Mail !

    Cheers, Gary.

Well good on you Gary..........thank God somebody thought to give it a go..........
Maybe your attention to detail will rub off on some of the other operators.

    G`day Bo-Bo
Glad you enjoyed the video.........I`m always searching for that perfect angle to shoot from to make the video more interesting.
I like to get up close and personal with the trains in that respect, however as Gary will testify, the layout looks a lot bigger on video than it does in real life....:avatar::avatar:
The miracle of television I suppose....:scratchchin:

    I testify ! :worship:

I'm sure the layout looks larger on video because you have filmed down low to scale viewing height, which makes the scenes a lot larger or longer.

    Cheers, Gary.

Another thing with close up videos/photos is, to my mind anyway, your brain fills much more detail not in shot than there really is. Low down photos of micro planks etc always make the layout look bigger. Nowt wrong with that, its just how my brain works.

    Cheer's, Pete.

:scratchchin:...interesting thoughts there Pete regarding your brain filling in the detail not seen.
I`d never thought of it that way.........I guess the closer you get to the objects, or if you remove things that would give hints to the actual scale, the things in the video start to take on a more life sized scale. As you say......your brain fills in the unseen detail.......this object looks big on the screen therefore it must be big and everything around it must be big.
    It`s virtual reality.

Great video Gormo. I thought your royal mail coach may have made its debut. Must have still been in the coachworks. Very enjoyable and seamless running.

    Cheers

    Thanks Toto,
The royal mail coach has been run at various times in the past and no doubt is in some of my earlier videos, however it has never been a good runner compared to the modern day offerings. The old wheels and bogies combined, essentially create a good amount of drag, equivalent to probably two or three modern coaches, so it was preferable to leave it out of rakes of coaches. It also had the old large tension locks which are not a completely compatible connection with the new small offerings.
It`s nice to have it in my collection though, and with the conversion to the new bogies, it can run quite effectively with the younger rolling stock, so there`s a good chance it will appear more often in future videos.

    G`day Toto,
Here is the official debut video for the mail coach .........well in it`s new configuration anyway..?????........and I`ve realized now that I have assembled a complete train now where every component is a conversion in some way or another.
