    Hi All,

Did real banana vans ever run in the yellow livery as per the Wrenn model?

If so when where these phased out in favour of the bauxite vans with Banana Company stickers?

    Many thanks
    Paul

I strongly suspect that bright yellow livery was a marketing ploy by Wren to make train sets more appealing to buy, same with Saxa Salt and Colman's Mustard vans these liveries are mainly fictitious.

Year ago I had often wondered about the Colman’s mustard wagons, as well, having several in OO scale, and they are mostly not far from what was of the actual PO

I used one of those apps that colour B&W photos to see what it would come up with and yellow is what it shows

Another way to possibly check the Colman's yellow is to use the real thing.

Of course this depends on the mustard company using the same yellow, and the change in paint from 30 years on the Mainline wagon. But mustard is generally yellow...

Thanks for all your replies; However, mustard has never been a favourite of mine!

Re the Banana Vans, I think the answer is to heavily weather my two yellow ones, then run them in a banana special with my 4 bauxite versions and my 2 Ratio kits (but not next to each other!)!

    Cheers
    Paul

I should have left this thread alone. Now I've bought a Wrenn yellow Fyffe's banana van.....

My excuse is that I bought my yellow Banana vans a good few years ago as part of a job lot, when my choice of wagons wasn't as well tuned as it is now!

    Cheers

Paul, it’s your layout... you may run what you like.
Something I must remember myself next time I comment on a photo!
