Hi all, after some advice please.
I've been building some buildings in grey board finished with brick papers and wanted to add some additional details such as guttering that I can only find available in plastic.
Can anyone suggest a glue / adhesive suitable for this.
    Many thanks.

Couple of pics of my retail units - roof just placed on top for checking dimensions.

    Hi Malc.

I've used a tacky PVA glue for fixing detailed parts to my card buildings, you can pick it up at most DIY or craft shops. Seems to have worked well the few times I have done it when gluing plastic parts or wooden cocktail sticks that have replicated downpipes.

An epoxy such as Araldite works best bonding plastic to card, left overnight to cure properly will make a solid joint, two part 24 hour Araldite takes longer to set whereas rapid set Araldite gives less time to work with, both need overnight drying time. I would resist using PVA since that stuff is best when pressure is applied to the bonding surfaces. You could also use cyano (super glue) but you'd run the risk of the cyano staining the printwork on the card... so best to steer away from that as well. It all depends what bits you intend to stick to what surfaces and how much time you want to spend working with a "wet" glue.

    G`day MalcT,
Another alternative to plastic guttering is the metal struts from umbrellas.
I have used these successfully myself and I have applied them with Superglue.
As for down pipes, I have used wire of a suitable gauge fitted with narrow strips of electrical tape to indicate joints, and again secured with Superglue.
A link to my thread with the guttering below.

    Hi Malc

    Sorry for the late reply

You can use copydex (or any other latex glue), apply and let dry then stick together.

If you want to stick the paper to the plastic, then holding the paper in place, wet the paper with MEK, or dissolve some of the plastic sprue in Acetone or MEK, to produce a slurry. Apply the slurry to the paper backside and allow to dry, then stick in place using MEK or Acetone.

I also use Spaggettii for down pipes, and strips alluminium cut from the food trays, formed over spaggettii to create gutters.
For lead flashing and ridge tiles I use silver tissue paper (Matt side uppermost), and for the Scottish style ridge flashing I glue spaggettii along the ridge, then overlay with the tissue paper.

Hi Malc , bit late but it's Christmas .
I've found the 'Rocket Card Glue' by Deluxe Materials really good for sticking anything to card - amazing stuff.
