    Good Evening All,
I have never used a double slip before and now is the time to do so. I have a Peco Insular Code 100 second hand slip which I would like to use but have no instruction leaflet and all the major questions are arising i.e is there any electrical work required, do I use insulates or metal fish plates on the eight ends of the of the slip or is there something hidden away in the learning zone I have missed or am I just over thinking the whole thing.

    Regards

The Hebridean { In the very wet and windy Outewr Hebrides

As long as you keep the wind and rain off the double slip (I ken that'll be difficult) then you should be ok with just metal fish flates as the power is routed via the contacts on the point.
However a lot can change depending on the trackwork before and after the slip. So if the track sections entering and leaving the slips are from different sections, then it may be worth wiring the souble slip as its own section, and insulate all roads.

Electrofrog are another issue, and this video may help

    Hope this helps

    Paul

I had 3 on an old layout and insulated them completely and fed power to them like they were a stand alone section.
I used a short piece of track, 2-3", on each leg to extend them with the insulators at the end of them.

Hi Paul, Thanks to storm Brenden and the long delay from open reach my computer and internet connection has been down and I am writing this with goodwill of a near neighbour lending us a spare router. reading your reply it looks as if I have been overthinking the problems of using a double slip and I am close to testing the electrics so fingers crossed.

    Regards
