    Great job Pete....very impressive...:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

You`ve got me intrigued with the Klear floor polish used to glue the coal into place. Does it perform like glue or does it have just enough adhesion to hold the coal in place.????

Would it be any good for ballasting?????

Your figures not fitting so well I reckon is down the the paint. I think that fraction of a millimeter of paint thickness can have an effect.....but what can you do?????.....the figures have to be painted.!!

Thanks for the Master Class in loco building :handshake:

Toto, I am going to try and weather it as a Staveley works loco, a bit grubby but looking like it is loved by its crew's, so a fairly light weathering.

Gormo, the Johnson's Klear floor polish set's like PVA, it is also glossy so needs dulling down if used as a varnish, unfortunately it's no longer made, mine came from me dad's when we cleared his house after he passed away, I believe there is an alternative that's just as good but I'm blowed if I can remember what it is called, still sold as a floor polish, it's also good for ballasting etc, I will see if I can find it's name.

Thank's Ron and Chris, it's been a journey, I some time's despaired I would finish it, there are still one or two thing's left to do, I've just ordered some etched works plates from Narrow Planet, they take a few weeks to do so in the meantime I shall crack on with some other job's.

    Cheer's, Pete.

I just googled alternatives to Klear and found this, its called Lakeland Quick Shine, it has had some rave revues on different modelling sites, bit costly at £12.99 but a little go's a long way, hope this is of help Gormo, you can probably find something similar in Oz, I think Klear kept its name but was made by Pledge after Johnsons stopped making it.

    Hi Pete,
A lovely build a lot of work has gone into that loco and thought. If my memory serves me right they were a good little workhorse for such a small loco.Ideal for shunning operations

Thanks Gloria, it was a really nice little loco to build though it did take quite a while to finish. I started the build ages ago and only really picked up again after joining this forum. The members here were very supportive and that gave me the impetus to carry on, after while it seemed to gain a life of its own and became something I just had to complete.
I'm really chuffed with how it turned out, but to be fair, there are one or two little jobs to do before I will be completely happy with it :avatar:.

    Cheer's, Pete.

    Hi Pete,
You are welcome, Yes it all takes time an patience. It's the satisfaction afterwards to say yes I built this from scratch and proud of the achievement. I am still in the build of my carriage shed which I posted on here a long time ago. This week I have just added the sides and window frames which will be ready for glazing. It has taken me all this time to think what to use so decided on lollipop sticks for the side walls. Just contemplating of what to use for the roof now. Will try and post a photo to you at some point.
    Kindest regards,
    Gloria.
Ps to some Modellers my build may a look a bit crude.

    Hi Pete,
Here is a photo of what I have managed to complete so far. As I am not into carpentry, I have built this from scratch and from my head.
    Regards,
    Gloria

Thank you Pete it was built from scrap pieces of wood and lollipop sticks, have added parts of the window sills today just have to sort out the frames next ready for glazing. The roof will be added last as there is L.E.Ds to fit. This is my ever first attempt at something this big although saying that I have built a station halt but that's not very good so thinking of ways to rebuild one that will look good on our portable railway display.
    Kindest regards,
    Gloria.

    Hi Pete,
Have taken another photo of carriage shed that I am building. I have built this from my head without any drawings or plans. As mentioned built from scrap wood and lollipop sticks. It's not perfect as there are far better modellers than me. I built this on my lap. My partner was amazed that I could work like that.
    Regards,
    Gloria
