This link pooped up this morning so I thought I would share it with a wider audience. It is a video of shunting grain wagons as they unload at the Fielders factory in Sydney, manually unloading the hoppers over the grates and then using large ropes and winches to move the wagons. They then use the rope system to move the wagon on the traverser over to the other track. It's only a short video, but makes you wonder how it could be applied to a model, easier for the O gauge guys I guess. Cheers Tony
That's some battering ram to get the wagon on to the traverser. It would be do-able in both 4mm and 7mm, I'm thinking a sub track under the main track with neodyium magnets fitted to both the wagon and to a buggy on the sub track to drag the wagons around. The traverser would be straight forward as it only has two positions. Thanks for posting Tony Paul
I had a look at some of the other videos that were on the same you-tube channel, some very good ones I might add. And found one that used a forklift on the ground to "shunt" some vans along a siding, and open their doors! Certainly why these wagons have a real hard life! Cheers Tony
