Ok I have to be honest ... I've hit the buffers ... because of the tightness of the l/h curve the loco intermittently derails ... this is due to the stress on the track constantly trying to distort ... so I'm having to get rid of the bottom l/h point ... however I have a plan B ... C ... whatever ,,, sigh ... tinto time .... watch this space ...

Sooo I'm starting again ... fresh points .. new track ... oh and this time I´m putting a cork surface down 1/32in thick and of course a new (x 9) track plan ... (I'm determined to have at least 3 points as it will give me a variation of a shunting layout) ... I'll get there and because it's small and I can work at the table its very enjoyable ... god this tinto's good ...

  4. Ian it will be great to see your new layout design come to life. I do like your new layout design with the three points, which you say will add interest to the shunting side of things.
You will benefit from adding a cork bed to the case.

As a little side build I've modified my rolling road. this will fit inside the case under the baseboard and the addition of magnets will hold the rollers in place until I need them. the idea is to connect it to the 2nd track controller on my gaugemaster dual controller so I can run in or warm up my locos during a running session. All main connections are by jack plugs (already wired)

Yet another change of plan ... reason being the difficulty I have had trying to bend and connect the flexi track without it falling apart (the bends are too tight ... although I did manage one side after much bother) ... so ... a new none roundy roundy plan incorporating two halves ... one passenger related and the other goods/factory ... anyway track down (not tested but will be tomorrow) I really want to complete it as I'm still ... still ... still ... writing my second book and want something to play wi ... ? ... operate, when I'm looking for inspiration ...

Wiring complete points connected ... (changed to Peco point levers as they don't centralize letting me see direction of point) only issue is two of the points not making completely but blades are touching. So might try track magic to clean them and make better contact ... thoroughly enjoying it ... and look ... no tinto ... yet!

Really enjoying the ups and downs of this build. Love the whole idea of building a layout in a small case. :tophat:

Between entertaining (vino tapas, more vino) multiple groups of visitors ... going away for several days to recover (i.e more vino/tapas but at a sensible pace) ... writing my 2nd book (yep still on it) ... I managed to get some modelling in .... this time the Metcalfe ramp reconfigured to my own requirements ... road surface still to do but ...
