As I understand it, yes to both, as long as you set your page properties to inches and I suspect that you would have to enter the measurement you quote as 1ft+2+5/8in or some variation thereof. That said, you may need to convert the 5/8 element to decimal so you would have 1ft+2.6250in
Cheers Rob If it were possible that's where I figured it would be, so I have been looking for it for about an hour, with no success. As usual your going to say a-b-c, as normal its bound to be hidden in plain sight.
Sorry mate, bad description on my part, It's under user preferences. Click on the Silhouette in the top right hand corner which will highlight as your username when you hover over it. that will open a menu, select preferences then move down to default units in the left hand pane and select design then change your default units for new designs. It won't alter anything that you have already drawn but it will allow you to work in inches for new designs.
Cheers Rob, Another feature filed away. I reckon it will be really useful for the small detailed diagrams where everything is in imperial and silly dimensions. Mossy
It's been a while since I updated this thread, I haven't done as much drawing lately. You may recall back up the thread I drew up some injectors for a J52 for a friend of mine? He had them cast in brass by Mike Hopkins of Scale Factor to create masters for a forthcoming 4mm scale loco kit. Knowing that it was my artwork Mike Kindly sent some photos f the castings through to me. I also drew the chimney
I haven't had much time for physical modelling this week so I have spend what time I have had doing a bit more drawing in Fusion. These are an assortment of parts for the D2 test build when I get to it. Front Sandbox, most of it will be hidden behind the front steps but some of it is visible. Brake shoes, to take away the risk of shorts. Finally for now, is the reverser for the cab
A bit more dabbling has created a round tank filler for a J52 (there was also an oval version). This is in 4mm for a friend but I will no doubt scale it up to upgrade the one n my own kit.
Hot of the 3D workbench is this Westinghouse Pump, sadly I could seem to render them to the same quality as the tank filler etc.
these are incredible drawing mate...I played with "Solidworks" a while back for a short time a know how much work is involved in creating these renders. I wasn't very good at it. Kind regards Chris
Rob asked me to try 3D print his westie pump and I have to admit it's by far the most complex model I have had to add supports do. Anyway in for a penny and all that, the print run finished about 40 mins so I can now get a clear look at it's washed and de-supported. Firstly complement to Rob for designing but wow it's come out superbly. i know he has someone who turns his .stl files into super brass castings but that must cost a lot and honestly it can't be cheap, for ordinary mortals the 3d print would suffice. Its to dark to photograph now so I will try do some tomorrow. Rob, you will get to see the result at the Thirsk show on Sunday. Mossy
Brilliant, thanks mate, That's quite a relief I was concerned that it wouldn't print for some unknown reason. Which would have been quite frustrating.
A successful day was had at Thirsk show with lots of interest in what Chris and I were doing. Mr M came along with a carrier bag of goodies and among other things, the print quality of the Westinghouse pumps is absolutely superb. A tribute to the printing skills. I now need a willing victim to try them out on My F8 may get shunted up the build list...
